chevyluv Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Hello all, Ive been searching this site for a few months, and well, I decided to register. (Ill just see how long im a member before the Wife says no more). Anyways lots of good info. I have a 02 Banshee torn apart, (Frame and Parts are getting PCed., Black). While I have it apart I want to put a 421 cub along with a 4mm Hotrod. Its a project that I want to do right the first time. I just bought 35mm carbs, so I know these are the right carbs for the setup im tring to accomplish. Swingarm, suspension, and a-arms will be soon as well. is there anything else I sholud do to make my banshee at its peak. Thanks for the help guys Quote
Polish Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 By all means im not an expert on cubbys, cause they seam to be pretty straight formward!, but I do know thatmy stock cylindes beat a cub up china wall. I not saying that my bike is stock, im just saying that my cylinders are stock, and my motor was built well by a no name guy here in San Diego. Ive also been riding for almost 33 years and that too makes a big difference, and I have laid off the throttle big time as I get older. so to answer your ? Just give it more throttle with a well built motor, But if $$$ is no option get the cub Quote
FasterThanU90 Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 for just play riding and duning, timing plate-max load bearing-heavy clutch with pancake bearing-shift star mod and shift shaft mod/easy spring for sure Quote
Bansh-eman Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 35's are a good start... reeds, pipes, head with correct domes, cdi, coil, maxlaod, pancake, lockup ,override, swinger, .... but if you dont have a suspension to hold it all to the ground its pointless... Quote
dajogejr Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Lockup and override, as previously mentioned.... I built my 1st 4 mil cub without it...big, big mistake. Other than that, you have your bases covered. CPI or Shearer pipes really like cub port layout. Quote

Thanks for the replys guys, I found time to get to my computer. I guess I can do a search on the override and the lockup, How do you like your cub? How long have you been using your cub also? It looks like its a fairly easy install. My wifes brother is a mechanic so im sure he cn help me. Let me know how you like it. Thanks Pat Quote
theshee Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 Shearers.... that may be the best part of my 421. When you get on the pipe hang on. Shearers compliment a 421 cubby nice. Quote

dajogejr Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Any else to share about 4 mil? Yep...it'll be fast enough for a little while. Then you'll want bigger...LOL. How much port work did u have on that 4mil ? Cleaned up by Jeff @ FAST. SoCalinIt has my old motor, and loves it.... Quote
FasterThanU90 Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 just a clean up? that boggles my mind that ur needing and override, do u have high compression domes running high octane? I have 20cc domes running pump gas it runs hard, but i have no trannsmision problems needing one Quote
r/atvshee Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 Trust me, its not fun trying to get a cub to shift under full power. Thats why i sent my tranny for an override. Quote

Even a full drag ported cub only adds a handful of HP over a stocker.... you will get beat by lesser motors with an override on a cub without one... Quote
FasterThanU90 Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 thats not a fact, i have a cleaned up FAST cub and i have no problems shifting at high rpms full throtlle white knuckle riding. With properly maintaned transmission components theres no problems for me and my bike is quick- i could see needing one for Drag because the cub really revs high for the lower gears Quote
