dajogejr Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 thats not a fact, i have a cleaned up FAST cub and i have no problems shifting at high rpms full throtlle white knuckle riding. With properly maintaned transmission components theres no problems for me and my bike is quick- i could see needing one for Drag because the cub really revs high for the lower gears Than you are the only one known that has a great shifting stock tranny under full throttle Shifts with a cub. My trans was Perfect....put 3 times the stock HP to that tranny and it's gonna shift like shit... what difference does it make what gear you are in? Lower or higher? Full throttle shift is a full throttle shift.... Quote
FasterThanU90 Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 i dont do intense drag, i get down in the sand playing around and hillclimbing racing whatever- told my builder i wanted a 4mil on pump gas with little tricks and better shifts i should be around 80hp and like i said i have fine shifts, i rarely get a false neutral around 1st thats about it im just on this subject becuase everytime someone has a cub build question theres always ovverides brought up that there soooo needed, nothing against them would be tottally cool to have but theres money that could be better spent o u kno damn well when shifting a cub from second to 3rd its about a split second haha Quote
bada450r Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 i have a cub as well, and i say he will need an override.it makes a big difference, get a dunable, there out there so why not i think that they are worth the money.   Quote
dajogejr Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 I know a cub on a stock tranny can be made to shift better....but it's still not very good. If you paid for an 80HP motor....why not use it all? Override allows that. If you got a stock cylinder play/dune port and are just farting around...no biggie. But...it's kinda like putting a moto-fast 2 into 1 pipe on a cub. Yeah, it'll work....but, what's the point. Quote
moneybags Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 Trust me, its not fun trying to get a cub to shift under full power. Thats why i sent my tranny for an override. I just got to take my 421 cub to the sand this week for the first time ever. Under full power it is kinda of scary shifting. Some times it will take me 2 or 3 tries to get it into the next gear. After taking my cub to the sand for the first time. I now know why people got so pissed when somebody talks about taking cubs on trail rides and such. Long story short, I will never put dirt tires on my 421 cub agin. Atleast I hope not to. Quote

Yeah, and then once you got into the next gear, your pretty much out of the powerband. Quote
