Finkshee Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 I just bought a Ricky Stator adjustable timing plate and was wondering How to install it and if it is necessarry to have a puller? If somebody could give me detailed instructions I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance. Quote
dajogejr Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 You 100% absolutely need the correct thread in type of flywheel puller, unless you don't want to re-use your stock flywheel...LOL. You can find the thread in puller on Ebay for 8 to 15 bucks all day long. Clean the middle hole of your flywheel with wire brush and some WD40, thread the puller in, then hit the nut on the puller with an impact gun, will come right off. The rest is cake. Disconnect the wires from the harness (under your carbs, on top the motor), there are three 10mm bolts holding the plate in place. Remove those. There are three large phillips screws holding the stator onto the plate, and one or two small ones holding the wire loop on the back side. Two small phillips holding the pickup onto the plate as well. Pretty self explanatory. Use the point at where the case halves meet for your timing mark... Great little cheap mod. Good luck... Quote
fox_forma Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 yeah with the right tools it takes about 10 min to do, just be carefull with the phillips head screws that hold the stator to the plate, mine stripped out because its a shiity soft metal and they were really tq'd in there. Like mentioned a puller can be had for around $15 on ebay, and if you do have an impact gun it will make your life a lot easier removing the flywheel. Quote
Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 I agree with the two other posts. Just take your time and leave the hammers in the tool box. Quote
mpbanshee Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 I would reccomend getting a Clymer Manual if you don't already have one. That is the first purchase any Banshee owner needs to make. Quote
Merlin Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 I would reccomend getting a Clymer Manual if you don't already have one. That is the first purchase any Banshee owner needs to make. I have the actual flywheel puller from yamaha, so it doesn't have the nut on the top it has a T handle. Do I just keep turning it until it POPS off. I don't have a flywheel holder,so what can I use to keep it from turning. Quote
RagunCajun Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 Use the point at where the case halves meet for your timing mark... yay for the search option. now i can go finish installing. On a side note, how hard would it be for the company to put freakin instuctions on there. I understand it's take out and put back in the plate but ida never know use were the two halves meet. thanx daj Quote
BaNsHeeJuNkEy Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 since you are all on the subject i am going to be putting my timing plate on this weekend. does anyone know the torq spec for the flywheel bolt on the end of crank. Quote
Washburn Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Watch them screws connecting the stator to the plate. 3 soft screws I stripped mine with an all pourpose screw driver. I was in there tight and straight. Stripped those basterds now I have a dilema. Quote
