paulnyw Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 hey got an new issue with the banshee i was out riding yesterday and it ran great but two times when i was running it hard on a hill climb i would go to shift and it seemed like it missed the gear and just rev as soon as i clicked it up again it would go. it only did this twice both times on a hill. when it was on flat ground it would work fine it was almost like the clutch would hang or something letting it just rev out??? any ideas?? vortec_blaze Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 maybe is is because of too thin of oil because mine has done it to me a few times...mine has only done it when racing at the dunes....sorry i cant help but i would like to know too.. Quote
paulnyw Posted April 5, 2007 Author Report Posted April 5, 2007 anyone else have this problem?? Quote
yamaha04 Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 well its a clutch issue i would think. what kinda oil are you useing. did it feel like it was grabbing at all? maybe your clutch is on its way out. Quote
scooter Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 this might be a stupid reply to your problem but it happend to me. i ride with alpinestar boots and i love them but sometimes when riding aggresive like racing or going over whoops the buckle or strap on the top of my boot will catch my shifter and move it sometimes it has kicked me in to neutral or made me miss a gear.now that i know whats going on it doesnt happen any more but i did do it a couple times till i got my shit togther Quote
okbeast Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Mine does this quite often, I believe it is going into neutral. The shifter will hang on top of one of the lobes of the shift star and I guess that throw it into neutral. I've just had to learn to really kick it into gear. Quote
350BANSHEE350 Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 make sure you not going from 1st to neutral or down shifting by accident Quote
375hp banshees Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 was it between 1&2 both times. if it wasn't, did you go from say, 3rd to free rev. then when you upshifted (to get back into gear) did it go to 4th or 5th ? Quote
paulnyw Posted April 5, 2007 Author Report Posted April 5, 2007 thanks for all the replies the clutch is a brand new barnett so i dont think that is it and i believe it is between 3rd and 4th gear that it happens it only happened twice so far so i am not positive and yes when i click it up again it goes to the right gear so maybe the shifter is habging up a little some how?? David Keith Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 thanks for all the replies the clutch is a brand new barnett so i dont think that is it and i believe it is between 3rd and 4th gear that it happens it only happened twice so far so i am not positive and yes when i click it up again it goes to the right gear so maybe the shifter is habging up a little some how?? I've got a motor torn apart right now because it wouldn't stay "in gear" during full throttle. The shifter detent arm has a crack in it & it is bent. This causes the rotation of the shifting drum to be slightly "out of phase". I'm going to weld it up & re-align it. If that doesn't fix it, a shifting fork may be bent... Quote
