peak-j Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 Ok, I rode my banshee for about 40 mins. last night, pulled the plugs today and they are a medium tan to light tan. Should I leave it alone or what. Cold it smokes quite a bit and after it warms up it lightens up a little. It runs awesome through all gears, should I do the choke test to see if it runs better or are there any other options. I did the plug chop and it looked to be a little rich, but now I'm not to sure about it all. Maybe I should do another plug chop? Both cylinders look identical. 280mains, 4th slot, stock pilots 1-1/4 out. Thanks Quote
350BANSHEE350 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 after a couple hours of riding my new banshee min were blackish and my bike is all stock it runs good through all the gears i think plugs chops are for like a 5 min ride i would think they would get darker afer atleast 40 min Quote
peak-j Posted March 31, 2007 Author Report Posted March 31, 2007 Not a very good picture, but you can kinda see the color. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks Quote
mpbanshee Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 Riding around for a while, and then pulling in the garage and shutting her off does not give you an accurate plug reading. You need to run the bike at a certain throttle position and instantly kill the spark to get an accurate reading for a particular jetting circuit. To dial in the mains, it needs to be ran WFO for several seconds, and killed instantly. Quote
fastrthnu Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 warm it up turn it off,. put in new plugs,. race it wot all the way up to the peak of 6th gear pull in the clutch and shut it off and roll to a stop with the clutch pulled,. then put the old plugs back in. Dont let it Idle or anything after! Then chop it. Ive tried neutral throttle position crap and its not as accurate. Quote
jbooker82 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 If you did a plug chop and it looked a little rich then your mains should be ok. 70-80 percent of most peoples riding is in the area where the needle affects jetting. I would say that is what your spark plug represents. If your board and want to try a step richer on the needle to see how it acts. josh Quote

Yeah, I already did the plug chop, I think I'll try to move the clip to the 5th slot and see what happens. Quote
