Handyman Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 After work I took the Shee to the base MX track to finish breaking her in. Took her around the track a few times to warm the engine up and too see the improvements and changes that were made. Found a couple Jumps that i knew I could hit easily so on and so forth.. Well I came back to the start of the track and took off...well the back tires did...they just spun. so I eased off and they caught and about ripped my arms off...The first thing I noticed is that the +4 swinger wasn't letting the back end slide out as easily as my '99 does..no big deal a littel more gas....I spun a 180...Turn back around and get going again... came up to the first jump that I knew I could hit...That damn swinger kicked my ass end up and I almost went over the bars...Thought I preloaded wrong..No big deal....Hit the 2nd jump...and the 3rd....still doing my best to not go over the bars...after a few more jumps and it wanting to kick me over the bars I said to hell with this.. SO I started to cruise around the track and try to get the ass slide down...I either spun 180 or the swinger would not let the ass swing out and would make the tires grip and launch me forward...Also......1/4 twist twist throttle is not the type of throttle you want to have with a 421cc motor...that damn thing is very touchy...especially on right hand turns...I launched myself over a berm because as I was trying to get the back to kick out I twisted my wrist and the back tires caught and launched me up and over the berm and almost over the handle bars once again...So I say screw this and decided to go around the outside of the track in a circle. Well I found out what you all said when the power band kicks in late with the CPI's.. I was in 3rd gear and the powerband hit and I just about found myself on my ass on the ground behind the shee....Thank god my boot caught the fender..that's what kept me from gong all the off. So what did I learn...A 421cc cheetah powervalve motor with a +4 swinger has no reason to be on a MX track....It was too damn fun but but not as fun as on my '99 when I actually have traction and could hit the big jumps and it not try buck me over the handlebars. and the cheetah is a hand full. That thing is a damn powerhouse.... Quote
gipperz Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Sounds like you had your hands full. Twist throttle is a bad idea, I had one on my 4mill from F.A.S.T. and it didn't take me long to pull it off. No twist for me cause I damn near killed myself. Sounds like you have yourself a beast .............but ain't it fun. Quote

There was a guy out there on his 450 when I was on my way back to the truck...I passed him in 4th gear. He came to the truck and asked what I had done to the motor. i explained what the motor was and he said that's the fastest banshee he's ever seen. He said that there was no way his 450 would keep up. Why a MX track? u could' do it with sum skill but why keep eatin it The MX track is the only place I could really open her up. There's a access road that goes around the track and it has a long straight scetion that I wanted to fly down..ANd I wanted to see how the thing reacted on jumps and stuff. Before I get to the dunes and try jumping it and not know what to expect when it's airborn. And yes I can handle it....and no I need power Quote
SoCalinIt Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Good lord that's a lot of motor to have in a tight area... I would have loved to be there! Have fun with her in the dunes... Quote
