baddsheee Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 I am thinking about selling my T5's to get some Shearers. I have some questions on how the Shearers mount. My Toomey silencers have the aftermarket hangers (aluminum) from Toomey. Do I need these hangers for the Shearers (silencers), or do they mount straight onto the frame? Next, would my aluminum clamps fit on my Shearers, or would I need some larger/smaller ones? Is there any other tips that you guy have for the way the Shearers mount? Good or bad? Thanks Quote
wesw Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 the silencers can mount to the grab bar. only bitch is you have to shim the left pipe about3/8- 1/2 inch away from frame to get them away from the head. so they dont rub. matt could simply just roll the mount 1/4 and take care of this from the factory but he doesnt. very hard to run an air box also should get some pods. your clamp will fit or should fit. i use the ol t5 green cover on mine. dajogejr Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 I used the aluminum clamps and seals from my T5s right to my RDZ inframes (same as shearer) and they fit. Tight, but fit! The real question is this... Do you have bigger carbs and dune/drag style porting to compliment the Shearer pipes? If not...you'll probably be disappointed in their power output. It's all top end.... I have the agressive dune port by Passion. Don't have the carbs yet. Quote

Jim has a steal on Shearers right now, as you know...and you can probably recoup most of that by selling your Toomeys...win win. I think 34PJs or 35PWKs would fit your bill nicely!! Quote
BigRed350x Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 I run both shearer and CPI and I've had better experiences witht he CPI's for dune riding. Both are great pipes, and the engineering and fit on the shearer is better, but if you do dune riding I would recommend the CPI's. Just my $.02 from running both of a dune-ported 4mil. Quote

Some scarey shit, but I agree with BigRed350x, hands down, I'd take a set of CPI's over Shearers for a dune bike. Quote

That made me crack up. It would be the perfect pipe if you could get the fit and looks of the shearers on the CPI pipes. Personally I like the silencers and the way the stingers run on the shearers. I'm trying to figure out a way I can stick the stinger and selcencers from the shearers on my CPI's. That would be the perfect pipe I think... that's just me though. odaen, I don't hold anything against you, you're a smart guy and contribute a lot to this board. I know I'm an asshole dick a lot of times. Sorry. - Jared Quote

BigRed350x Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 similar to a dick asshole, but not quite the same. Quote

wesw Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 i would talk to jim since he ported your jugs and see what he suggests. for a 350, i would suggest cpi also, if you had a 4mm i would say shearers. Quote

Would I better of with the Shearers, specially since I can get a great deal right, or my T5's? Thinking about the shearers because of the deal. Dune riding and hi speed desert riding.
