brokesoftwaretester Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 I have a bike that has the baffle from the stock silencer removed. I'm wondering if I need to find some baffles before going to Glamis. I know spark arrestors are required, does removing the baffle remove the 'spark arrestor'? Thanks! Quote
bansheeseat$$ Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 Yes removing the baffles is removing the arrestors. Quote

What are you talking about, you dont have to have either of those. It might be a rule but no one EVER checks. Quote

brokesoftwaretester Posted December 28, 2006 Author Report Posted December 28, 2006 Are these arrestors? They are on a set of Pro Circuits. I was reading if you put a piece of stainless steel screen in there, they think they are arrestors???? Tips on this appreciated. Quote
sheefreak Posted December 28, 2006 Report Posted December 28, 2006 I am not sure how they are in Glamis, but I have never seen anyone check a stock silencer at Silver Lake, and they check every vehicle that enters the dunes. As far as using stainless steel, I tried that and got the no USFS stamp speech. So that probably won't work. Quote

The spark arrestor is a screen that is inside the mullfer or silencer. Some spark arrestors slip on over the end of the muffler. Here is what toomey's spark arrestor looks like. Quote

Those look like someone cut silencers down to make shorties out of them. The screen thing used to work until they made it mandatory to etch in the usfd code and spark arrestor into the silencer body. ClimbAnyHill Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 They'll check if they approach you, just try to keep away from the rangers. Roll away if you see them coming. I have T5's & these arrestors have the stamp. You apply them by removing the snap ring from the stinger tips & slip these on. Secure them with the same snap ring. Quote
