Matt96shee Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 (edited) Hey guys, New Banshee owner here! I just bought a '96 and I've been going over it. I was tracking down a leak and came to a spot under the water pump, there's a brass-like fitting with a tube coming out of it. It's loose and actually came out when I tugged on it. Some oil came out of the hole. Now I'm freaked out! What goes here? Is this some type of breather hose? Thanks for the help! Matt This pic isn't mine, but you can see the tube and fitting I'm talking about. Edited December 25, 2006 by Matt96shee Quote
CadillacBanshee Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 i beleive its a vent or circulation hose. Mine was leaking around the bushing once but it was only the cracked hose. If thats the case, just trim it back a bit. Quote
Dinner Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 I'm pretty sure it is a breather hose. It connects into the "T" that is running throught the Rad over flow line. Quote
Matt96shee Posted December 25, 2006 Author Report Posted December 25, 2006 Thanks man! What's it venting though? Just excess pressure? Does it just go up the frame and vent to the atmosphere or to somewhere else on the motor? There's 2 screw holes on each side of it, what are those for? Matt Quote
Bansh-eman Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 its a vent hose to release the pressure in your trans and clutch cover... that hose connect to a "T" then the hose from the back of your cases connects to the same t and then the other side is for a hose thats left open to vent the two... RIPPEN Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 I ran mine up the frame a little and tied it to something so it vented back down.. I got rid of that whole "t" and all that crap.. Have heard from builders that if you run it up a bit and back down it will keep most crap out of it and you should be fine.. Unless you plan on doing some boating on your bike I guess .. Otherwise like I said I got tired of all that crap and it helped clean things up by getting rid of it.. RIPPEN Quote
Matt96shee Posted December 26, 2006 Author Report Posted December 26, 2006 (edited) soooo....if that fitting came out and oil came out the hole, would that be bad? should i keep digging into the motor? oh, how does that fitting go in the cover? is it threaded?
