MrTJ Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 Well I blew up the ol' banshee a little while ago and sent my cylnders to FAST to get some work done. Well they are in the mail on the way back to me so i started getting my engine ready, all cleaned up and such so i could get it going as quick as i could only to realise that one of my bearings in my crank is going bad :: . I feel stupid for not noticing this before but its to late now. Anyways Im probally just going to order another crank and updrade the shipping so it gets here with the rest of my parts, but i was wondering if its just my bearings and nothings exploded or anything how hard would it be to just get new bearings and get them installed? Or would it just be better to spend the extra money and get a whole new crank? I would have liked to just get like a 4mm stroker crank since im gonna have it apart anyways but my top end parts are already on the way so I probally should just go with a stock crank right? Quote

nunyabinness Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 if you are just looking for a stock crank let me know i have 4 good ones that i need to get rid of. Quote
dawarriorman Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 I see no need to buy a whole new crank just for bearings. Thats just a waste of money. Id get the crank trued and welded while you got it out, and replace all the bearings, and then ride. Quote
MrTJ Posted December 22, 2006 Author Report Posted December 22, 2006 I've never really messed around thei the bottom end of my banshee, so if i buy a used crank the only other thing i should need to get is a seal kit right? I dont need a press or anything do I? Quote

To be honest the banshee is the easiest motor i have ever worked on when it comes to a quad. It just opens right up, but you will need to get a fly wheel puller but im sure you already know that. Why didn't you get your cases port matched to your cylinders if you dont mind me asking? Quote
chevy7398 Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 just went through the same thing, what i found was the cheapest rebuild for the crank wich had all new bearings and new rods was 291 bucks cheapest labor to install new bearings and rods on crank 120 bucks total over 400 bucks without truing and welding! brand new hod rods crank trued and welded from fast 418 bucks to the door! so for me it was a real easy decision Quote

Cant wait to get it back, its been out for a while, the previous owner had done some hack job port job himself or somthing and i think Jeff had to spend a little extra time fixing it. Quote
