Rippin-it Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 I picked up my 06 LE banshee about 2 months ago. After installing the following mods, the clutch seems to slip in the higher gears (3rd-6th) on the pavement when you hit the powerband hard. I have T6 pipes, Noss 18cc domes, Dyna fs ignition, V3 reeds, K+N no lid, and 15t front sprocket. This only seems to happen on the pavement or on real hard pack dirt. Once the motor "comes on the pipe" it pulls for a second then the motor will rev faster and the bike will slow down a bit, almost like I was slipping the clutch. BTW, I am not mistaken this for over rev, or "falling off the pipe. My brothers banshee with the same mods does the same thing. Is that the clutch slipping, or the crank??? Is a stronger clutch needs with all this low end torque? Quote
FasterThanU90 Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 "Is that the clutch slipping, or the crank??? Is a stronger clutch needs with all this low end torque?" most likely, get a better clutch or maybe sum stiffer springs Quote

If so, I would dare to say that you are spinning the tires. The stockers dont grip for shit. Quote
Rippin-it Posted December 10, 2006 Author Report Posted December 10, 2006 No, the tires are gripping on the pavement. I actually have ITP trac stars. I think it is clutch slippage from the pipes, compression, and timing increase. I am debating whether to get stiffer springs or a new clutch and do it right the first time. Quote
HotCarl Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 What does the tranny fluid look like? If it looks like shit then get a new clutch if it doesn't then that prolly isn't the problem. Quote
dajogejr Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Check the fluid and level. Get a clymers, and check the adjustment on the clutch...too. If the adjustment is off, or too tight, it won't engage properly...high RPMs will expose this quickly. Quote

Is a stronger clutch needs with all this low end torque? Did this start doing this right away after the mods? Did you rejet properly with a plug chop? I know when I put pipes and a filter on my bike I experienced the same symptoms because I had too lean of a main... just a thought... Quote

adventurebound Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 I agree My Rz does the same thing on the street. It only started to do it when I got the jetting right and it made more power with some other mods. Only does it once or twice when it is cold then it hooks up. It is identical to yours only slipps on the second high peak of the power curve. I will be switching to some Barnett springs soon. All of the other components are like brand new. Plates frictions and dampers. The barnetts look like a good choice as the measure out to around 30% stiffer than the stock springs as I tested them on a spring test stand. Some of the other brand springs are claimed to be 100% stiffer. Most people stagger them so the leaver pull is not so high. I believe the 30% to be a better compromise. What is also important is that the Barnetts have the same coil bind height as the originalls @ 20mm. Stay away from automotive 10W30 oils because they contain friction modifiers which can cause clutch drag (slip). Good Luck! Kai Quote
