  1. The bogging then stalling part does not sound good if it is a fresh build. Perhaps it was seizing. removing the pipe and looking into the exhaust port may give some clues. Hopfully it is somthing else. Kai
  2. It is my understanding that the IIIs are convertable. The tapered round inlet transition snaps out revealing the standard rectangular opening. The stock intake boots are well suited for this with the tapered protrusions which fit into the reed cage. Then if you use after market manifolds which are just flat because they are easier to make that way you install the snap in transitions to the cage. This way the poorley designed aftermarket manifolds will mimmic the original intake manifolds. Please correct me if this is not true. Kai
  3. My Rz does the same thing on the street. It only started to do it when I got the jetting right and it made more power with some other mods. Only does it once or twice when it is cold then it hooks up. It is identical to yours only slipps on the second high peak of the power curve. I will be switching to some Barnett springs soon. All of the other components are like brand new. Plates frictions and dampers. The barnetts look like a good choice as the measure out to around 30% stiffer than the stock springs as I tested them on a spring test stand. Some of the other brand springs are claimed to be 100% stiffer. Most people stagger them so the leaver pull is not so high. I believe the 30% to be a better compromise. What is also important is that the Barnetts have the same coil bind height as the originalls @ 20mm. Stay away from automotive 10W30 oils because they contain friction modifiers which can cause clutch drag (slip). Good Luck! Kai
  4. RZcolo, Thanks for the info. Did you post a picture? OK so wide open the port should have no blockage at all. at low revs the valve should roll closed partially. I will look this weekend. Just got it registered. Thanks for the help! Kai
  5. Hello, My name is Kai and am a off road enthusiast. I like bikes quads and trucks. If I didn't buy a YFZ 450 then I would have a Banshee for sure. I do have a question about a RZ350 Power Valve. How can you tell if it is indexed correctly. I suspect (hope) that it is 180 degrees out. The bike runs well but just does not scream like I believe it should. It is an 85 RZ350 Kenny Roberts. It has new pistons 30mm carbs with dynojet kits, a 2 into one air filter and old Spec II chambers. The previous owner also installed new reeds. I do not believe it was ported or modified other than that. I am hoping that the power valve is installed incorrectly. It does cycle with the ignition and the pin hole aligns with the notch in the cam. Can someone tell me how to tell through the exhaust port if the valve is indexwd correctly. Thanks! Kai
