rynb15 Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 I had a tt225 when i was 15 or so. Good bike to learn on. Why not by here a quad. If i were teaching my gf i would be afriad she would fall on a dirt bike. You could get like a 300ex or something. Quote
sgt seth Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 I thought you were trying to trade your GF. Dammit, that took me like three times to load up this page!! :: Quote
the doug1789 Posted November 23, 2006 Author Report Posted November 23, 2006 lmao i wish i could get rid of her somedays :: shes always wanted a motorcycle...and im not about to pay for a street bike (suicide for her ) and she doesnt want a quad there "big and ugly" im hoping she doesnt die because of this either Quote
Animalman294 Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 Yeah, that would really suck (I mean the dyin' thing). Have you tried putin' her on your shee with the throttle choked down.............? Quote
sgt seth Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 I still say you go redneck and trade her for a bike. That'd be the smartest, most cost effective way. But if you must, I'd try and talk her into a 300ex or something. Small, fun to ride, easy to maintain. That way she can do the same things you do. Its hard for dirt bike riders to go and do the same things as quads. Having ridden with some guys who just wouldn't give up their bikes, I know this. If you have a friend with a smaller bike, let her try it out and see just how hard it is compared to a small four stroke sport quad. Thats just my opinion, what do I know? Quote
LiftdT4R Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 (edited) You can't go wrong with the TTR, it's the classic wife/gf bike. She might have a tough time learning on it, but should be anything major. The TTR is a heavy bike to pick up after dropping a few times though. I used to have a YZ 125, and I'm a smaller guy, 5'6" and 140lbs. I could only stradle it on my toes, and if I happened to stop on a incline, I would surely set it down. Needless to say there wasn't a lot of stopping. I fared pretty well on it, but I would loose my balance on trails in some of the slower sections even after riding for a while. I would definately get another one, but just let her know she will be dumping it, and picking it up quite often until she gets the hang of it on trails. I have my 80 now, I only paid $300 for it, and I love it on the trails, it's not gonna keep up with anything other then utility quads, but I beat around on it and have a good time. I only sold my 125 cause I got offered a good amount for it, and I can't ride it in the snow. I plan on getting another one soon though, hopefully something newer. I probably wouldnt reccomend a 2 stroke bike for someone whos never ridden before though. Edited November 24, 2006 by LiftdT4R Quote
IROOST1 Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 I bought my gf a yz85 that was decked out. BIG MISTAKE. She's has tried riding it three time now, the last time she launched it into two cheap hondas and broke her asv lever clear off. Funny, but not. If you do get her a fast one, just make sure you have a video camera ready. I should have gotten her a ttr125. Also, she says no quads, because i did try and talk her into one. GOOD LUCK WHATEVER YOU DO. Quote

The reason I have both is because I prefer the bikes, but it's not much fun riding a bike with a bunch of quads (all utility, I only know a few people that have sport quads.) Borrow a bike and take her to a trail, under the condition that she also let you borrow a quad for her to try also. If she still insists on a bike, go with the Honda CRF230. The electric start is a life saver for a beginner. The suspension is good for a 100 -125 lb trail rider, and they are bullet proof. I got a CRF230 for wife to learn to ride on. Later sold it. Now I wish I would have kept it just for riding with the kids. Great little bike. :geek: I ride bikes and quads. In the tight sections, I was just as fast on the 230, sometimes a little faster than on my 2-stroke. Open sections or sandy sections, it wouldn't hang, but I would stay close enough to catch some of them again, when trail got tight/technical. (I also tried the 230 on MX track. First table top blew the rear tube when I landed. If she want's to MX, look for another bike.) Anyway, don't let the power fool you. Just playing and trail riding all day, the CRF230 is a great bike.
