Hey guys im new to this sight and i was wondering how reliable a banshee really is because i hear ppl say they blow up alot and u should plan to rebuild them prolly once every year or 2. But next summer or spring i want one but if its gunna be a headach cuz it blows up alot than id forget aobut it cuz im still in high school and just dont have the money to keep rebuilding one. I really dont plan on getting one and modding it out but from the sounds of it thats kind of a hard thing not to do. Any help would be apprciated thanks alot.

What kind of riding are you going to do?

I LOVE Banshees. I ride mostly sand, though. It's not the greatest trail quad unless you're an experienced rider and can keep the rpms up. I ride some trails

2 strokes ARE more sensitive and prone to "sticking" a motor , they are much more responsive and need proper jetting versus a 4 stroke... how ever you will never get the hp out of a 4 stroke that you can get out of a banshee period! there are small mods that on a banshee that will make a night and day differance that wont really do much of anything or possibly hurt the performance on a 4 stroke... if your wanting less worry and just want to have fun id say get a 4 stroke.. if you want to learn more about motors and have a bike with an ENDLESS mean of potental then yourt looking at the right bike, just be ready to jet and work on it more then a 4 stroke.

The times I have rebuilt my engine were because I wanted to do some mods rather than having to fix anything.. The beauty of it is, the banshee will cost you far less than a 4 poke to rebuild if anything fails..

Plain and simple if you want to go fast you have to wrench. If you take a stock banshee and a stock say honda 400ex and compare them its like comparing a porche to a ford escort. The banshee is an amazing machine, mine is pretty much stock as compared to most peoples bikes on here and to be honest with you it scares me sometimes. A 4 stroke is reliable as all hell but a banshee with pipes and some other little stuff is maybe a little less reliable but not enough to not get a banshee. If you were to blow your top end which is probably the most common MAJOR break down of the shee it would take you about 5 hrs with no expirence to tear it down and rebuild it. And cost about 300 bucks which is new pistons, rings, gaskets and takeing your cylindars to a machine shop to have bored and honed and having the head cleaned up. Also 2 strokes are easy as hell to work on. If I were you id go with a banshee.
