Hey guys, I'm in the process of building a custom fuel tank and fenders from scratch. Here's the full thread:

New Fuel Tank

If you guys have any input on how it looks so far, or advice on how you think I should work the front / rear fenders, let me know.

I'm thinking of doing "floating" fenders, basically like motorcycle fenders over the tires but not attached to the rest of the body (If that makes any sense at all....). Not sure how they would turn out, though. Any suggestions?

Gas tank looks good but if by floating fenders you mean something like a DS650 then that's definitely a no go. For sure show us the finished product though :flamewar:

 no shit, def. dont go with the goofy idea. besides that, the tank does look good

Damn that is looking good man! Definitely sets it apart, I'm anxious to see what you've got planned for the rest of the nose and for the seat/tail section. I'm not a big fan of the floating fenders either but that doesn't mean you couldn't pull it off...

Okay, yeah... The DS650 fenders were kind of what I was thinking... Wow those are ugly.... :yankyank:

Hmm... Back to the drawing board on those, I guess.

Glad you guys like the look so far. I'm having a hard time trying to weld it without burning through. I've got the MIG on the lowest setting and I'm using Ar/CO2. That seems to help a little, but it still burns through on the edges if I'm not careful.

It looks a lot like a street bike tank. That is going to look sick on your shee, and I would really be interested in seeing what it is going to look like when you are done. I thought about doing something like that before, because I want a larger volume tank, especially with the higher consuption of my new cubby. I think that thing is going to drink faster than me......... :yelrotflmao:

I don't like the plastic white ones because they look like shit and fade from white to yellow and paint doesn't turn out that great..............

Keep pictures posted for us to see your progress.............
