Just got new sprockets 15/41 and a new DID x-ring gold/gold.

My problem is i cut the chain and fit the master without pressing it to see if it would fit right. No go, way to loose no matter if i had the axel as far back as i could. So i cut another link and attempted to "dry fit" it again without pressing the link. Now its to tight that i cant get it to slip over both sprockets for the life of me.

I have searched and seen others with this problem but have found no1 post a solution. Someone help please this bike is killing me everytime i work on it i need to get extremely drunk to forget my pain.

how close are the two ends from each other?? if they are close enough together that the pins of the master link almost fit through, get a pair of needle-nose visegrips and slip them down thought the gaps the sprocket teeth ride in and gently squeeze them together. you should be able to get them pulled tight enough to slip the master link into place and put the plate on to keep the pins from spreading apart when you take the pressure back off.

i can get the two ends together if i take the chain apart at the top of the reat sprocket and put it together beside the sprocket but then the problem is i cant get it back on obviously but with one link more it to much that i cant get ride of the slack. it almost seems like taking half a link of would have fit perfect, which as far as i know you cant do.

i also tryed to go back to the 14 front and i couldnt get that either, i must be missing something here.

what is a roundhouse swinger

Honda style carrier.... eccentric(spelling?)... trying to think of other names. You will have to play w/your back sprocket size to get the right combo. 15/42 should get you in the ball park. I can't answer why it is you can't get the 14 back on though.

You probably need a 1/2 link to put in there, a little hard to find but a good shop should be able to order one for you, Could you take a link and run 2 master links and make it work?

wouldnt running 2 masters be the same as i had broken it the 1st time when it was to loose?

seriously is there a such thing as a half link??

seems like a pain in the ass and a real downfall to by this really expensive chain then have to do something like use to masters or a 1/2? link

this doesnt mess with the integrty of the chain at all?

Yes there is a 1/2 link, I just removed mine(wasted) to re-gear taller. Do you have 1 space in your sprocket or 2 between the ends of the chain when on the sprokets?

is your swingarm stock (or stock length)?

count the pins on your new chain. For a banshee w/ stock gearing 14/41 and stock rear end you should have no less than 104 links. If you want to run a 15 tooth counter sprocket, then you'll probably need one or two more links. So you should end up with between 105 - 107 I'm guessing. If you have less than 104...good luck finding someone with a -2 swinger to buy it off you.

Are you loosening the chain adjustment?

Are you putting the chain on before put in the master link?

Remember you also need 20 - 28mm of slack, and maintain proper alignment.

good luck and god speed :thumb:

there is 1 space (ie groove between the 2 teeth) this is without the master link, if i put the master link in there then the one pin from the masterlink takes up this space which leaves one hole needed to be filled with a pin from a the master link. im not one for words so ill draw a simple diagram here

/\_8_/\_0_/\___/\_0_/\_8_/\

= without master link

/\_8_/\_0_/\_o_/\_o_/\_8_/\

= with master link attached to one side of chain other end of master filling the gap from before but not attaching the 2 sides of the chain

i hope u know what im tryin to say here

if you dont i can take a picture with my digi

You will either have to find a 1/2 link or change gearing to addd or subtract links. It sucks on a stock carrier I've been fighting it for years. I will try to find a place or picture of a 1/2 link. I found 1 that has a 2 1/2 link setup but would require cutting again. HYPERRACING.com go to the products and then scrool down to chains and click, you will see it there.

The fix is a roundhouse swinger unfortunately. I found w/the stock setup I could only run certain sprocket combinations.

This was the case with me as well. Certain sprocket combos just wouldn't reach no matter what i did. It pissed me off a lot. I got a roundhouse now and I can run whatever I want. Love it.

i checked out that site and i seen that they have a 1/2 link for the Tsubaki chain

thing is that if you see that chain thats 2 pictures below under the chain listings

ie the D.I.D. 520 ERV3 X-Ring Chain thats $183 well thats the chain i got.

kinda sucks you pay all that extra for an all gold racing xring chain then i might have to stick some other 1/2 link in it thats not even gold.

think im gunna see what the dealer says bout it tmr during the day

guess im gunna play with that gearin calulator a lil too see if i think somethin may fit?

thanks for the help txalky

if anyone else has any ideas/opinions feel free

sheefreak or big red

tell me a lil more about the roundhouse, where do u find them. how much? worthwhile mod besides being able to get 1 dif gear on
