gonna race a coworker on the 1/4 mile asphalt drag strip. ive got a banshee with the following............full drag ported and 65mm bore done by jerry hall, cool head with 19cc domes,vf2's,half inch reed spacers, trinity manifolds, keihin 36mm alky carbs, uni pods, custom drag pipes, wiseco prolite pistons, welded and trued stock crank, stock trans. he is racin with a sv650s which is a suzuki street bike with a 90 degree v twin. only aftermarket part is a yoshi slip on pipe. i know those things put out right at 70 hp. my only concern is his gearing. obviously they are geared for higher speeds and thats where i think he might get me. anyone have any suggestions for gearing. i know i need really tall ratio but i dont know what numbers to throw on. what do you guys think my chances are of taken this guy?

Slim, at least in the quarter. I agree gearing at the big end is probably going to be your downfall, although I'm not real familiar with SV's and don't know how good the other dude is at launching it (well either of you heh). One way to find out though, I'd like to hear how it turns out...

You should be able to get him in the 1/8 but I dont know about the 1/4.

good luck you will take him off the line but the coworker will win by 3 or 4 bike lengths because on asphalt banshee have a horrible time staying down. The whole trip will be on 2 wheels or u will have to set it down. 1/4 mile is little to long for a four wheeler. Let us know how it turns out.

You need a 19 or 18 in the front, 39 in the rear, and some 20 or 21 inch slicks.

My prediction: You're gonna get stomped. Now, I'm not saying that for you or the mods you have currently, since you have a bit more under the hood than me. But, gearing is going to be the big problem. In the 1/8th you could gear and get him, but to gear it for the 1/4 you won't be near as fast out of the hole over the 1/8th. I ran at the drags near my home last weekend and it was fairly competitive between the quaders. But, there were street bikes (driven in off the street with DOT tires in street trim) turning high 10's low 11's in the quarter at about 120-130. I know there is no way I could get my Banshee to turn that in the quarter so...

i think u gonna get whooped...i dont know shit about that bike but i know my f4i would do like 75 in first gear alone. i think ur fucked...

I agree, you might and I stress MIGHT be able to keep up in the 1/8th but the quarter you are gonna get your ass handed to you. I had a friend in college with a vtwin I think it was a suzuki or something 750 and it was a fast fucker. Not like R1 or CBR fast, but it would kill a banshee in the quarter. There's just no way you can get geared to where you can get out of the hole decent and go that fast in the 1/4. You might be able to go fast, but if you are geared that way comming out of the hole will suck.

yep i have to say in the quarter you'll get beat.i have a v45 magna which iss a 750 and i can beat a banshee in the quarter mile pretty easily.just a little side note ,when honda came out with the v65 magna it was the fasted production bike right off the showroom floor for 10 years.it would run the quarter mile in 10 seconds flat .it was an 1100 cc .

the dealer i work for is selling 1000rr's for 8999 OTD. a little of that, a little MIG, and some tube and you have a winner!
