grpark20 Posted July 1, 2006 Report Posted July 1, 2006 I am getting ready to switch from regular anti-freeze to engine ice. Is there any kind of special way to get all of the anti-freeze out of the system. I was told that you cannot mix the engine ice with anything. So any info would help. Thanks Quote
grpark20 Posted July 2, 2006 Author Report Posted July 2, 2006 Does anyone have anything to say about this?? Don't want to break anything!! Quote
2003LimitedBanshee Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 The best way to do this is to first drain your coolant. I did this by pulling the plugs on the side of each cylinder. Then refill the system with straight water. Run for a bit, drain, refill with water, drain. I did this three times if I remember right to make sure the system should have been fully flushed. Obviously drain, then refill with engine ice. I wouldn't recommend mixing the engine ice with regular prestone (don't know that it would hurt anything but...), but the main point they are making is that it already comes premixed, ready to run, so they don't want people mixing it 50/50 with water. Shee-Male Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 pull the pump cover, flush with water re-apply and re-fill. Quote
mouse Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 pull the pump cover, flush with water re-apply and re-fill. i just pull bottom radiator hose and let drain blow the blow in the hose then refill and do it again then pull the side plugs. Quote
DIRTMAN350 Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 Pull drain plugs from the jugs to drain out all of the coolant. Next drain out the water pump. Put plugs back in and put water pump plate back on. fiil with 50/50 Distilled water and white vinegar. Run till up to temp and drain out again. repeat above procedure untill water mixture comes out clean. Finally drain out mixture the best ya can and fill with engine ice. good luck. Quote
