Geoff Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 OK, I'm running 12/41 with 22x11x8 with a 71 rollout I think. So whats the difference between my gearing and someone running 14/46? I was told that 1 tooth in the front is equal to 3 in the rear....so with that info aren't I pretty much geared the same? Or is there some other reason people aren't running a small front sprocket? Thanks Geoff Quote
knight_ripper Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 Actually its 2. 1 in the front is worth 2 in the back. I run anywhere from 13-41 to 15-41. I always run 20" rears unless Im desert racin, in that case I run 22" rears for clearance and top end. I run the 13-41 in the sand, 14-41 in the dirt and on tracks, and 15-41 in the desert. I however need more top for my desert racin...so I will going down on the back. resulting in a 15-38 gearing, with 22" rears. No bottom end...in fact I tend to overheat in the longer rocky sections. BansheeBen has a Killer gearing calculater on his web site. I cant remember what it is...but do a search and you should be able to find it. if anything to a search on google for gearing calc's. you will see a noticible difference there on the charts. Quote
Bansh88 Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 I went back to stock gearing this season. Love it. Quote
