Banshee_19 Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 I was out riding all day today and my clutch felt awsome almost all day, and then my lever got really hard to pull in. I could still shift with no problems. I have no idea what it could be. any help would be awsome Quote
ssanddemon Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Could very well be a bad cable- finally wore thru the liner and is eating on the housing. I'd slap a new cable on her. Quote
fastcar01 Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 I agree with that, go ahead and check for dirt at the lever on the engine, but I would put a new cable on it also, they are like $10.00. Quote
mikestudley1 Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 after you install the new clutch cable... obsess about lubricating it... mine was stiff so i changed it and lubed the shit out of it sometimes for no reason ... now it is a 1 finger beast! i love it Quote
96dragbanshee Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 all clutches are a little hard to pull but the fact that it was doing fine all day is not a great thing. First replace cable if that doesnt work take the clutch out and make sure the ball and rod are not getting welded together. This problem happened to me a year ago. It requires a splitting of the case to fix. Make sure your keeping plenty of oil in the bottom end. Mine ran fine all day and then clutch got tight and went to not pulling at all. the end result was 1100 dollars for rebuilding the motor from bottom up. You dont want to do that. Quote
MILO Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 when my lever pull got really tight is was the bearing for the push lever assembly ( where the cable connects at motor) the seal wore, dirt got in, needle bearings went to shit and were binding up on the shaft. new push lever assembly and bearing/seal, cable, and it's really smooth again.
