Bansheekidd97 Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 ive been running yamalube 32:1 since ive had my shee with no problems at all. i was at the parts store the other day and they sell ams oil i bought a bottle of the dominator racing oil on the back it says premix is 50:1 seems a little lean to me i relize that the ams oil is a full sythetic compared to the semi sythentic yamalube. does anybody else run this oil? what do you mix it at? Quote
MILO Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 if that's what it recommends the mix to be, then that's what i'd mix it at. i would make sure to run the old gas (2r mix) completely out before adding the full synthetic so you don't have a mixture of the two. why do you want to switch anyway, cost?? PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 I run the Saber 100:1 oil but I mix it at 80:1. Much cheaper and easier than Yamalube. I've been running Amsoil since Holyman hooked me up a couple years ago. My riding bud runs the dominator at 50:1 in his blaster with no problems. Quote
BANJO Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 i run the dominator at 32-1 even tho it says 50-1.. dominator oil dosent burn off as much so you can run it at 50-1. try 40-1 first if you find it smokes alot after wormed up.. then go to 50-1.. but i ran 32-1 but my engine was lean worked great..32-1 is always the safest way to mix your gas.. it all depends on your jetting really.. but ams oil is much better in my opinion.. its all i run..-dominator.. peace devin Quote
Thoughtshewas18 Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 i dont really mess around with anything like that I just run yamalube 32:1 and thats probably all I will run Quote
Master of Faster Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 I buy Yamalube 2-R in pints, makes it super easy to mix. 1 pint to 5 gallons of gas, 40:1. I have always have excellent luck with Yamalube so why change. My ported motor with wisecos has a very hard year and half on it and you can still see crosshatch in the cylinders. My buddies Banshee is on its 6th year I believe and still runs awesome with Yamalube at 40:1. I don't see any reason to switch. Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 I buy Yamalube 2-R in pints, 520630 What do those pints cost? When I used 2R it was about $9 for a quart. Quote
EastCoast Banshee Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 I run klotz Super Tech Plate at 40:1 but im pretty sure i could run it at 50:1 with no problems. Also yamalube smells like shit and well Klotz smells like your at the races. Quote

I got the 5 gallon cans and just put a pint in each and fill it up and done Quote

I got the 5 gallon cans and just put a pint in each and fill it up and done 520665 That's why I'm curious about the pint price. My Amsoil is at max $2.70/ half pint. All I need to do is dump a bottle in a 5 gallon can and I've got 80:1. A box of 12 bottles mixes 60 gallons of gas for $32.40 shipped to your door. If you buy 4 quarts of 2R at $8.00/quart and mix 10 gallons/quart you've only made 40 gallons of premix for the same price. Something to think about. Quote
Justintoxicated Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 (edited) Synthetic > Yamalube Although I think the amsoil would mix fine with the yamalube, always safest to not mix, but don't worry too much. Just don't mix it with 927. I got a few bottles of the 100 to 1 stuff and I plan to run it 40 to 1. it's very cheap cheaper than MC1 and cheaper than Yamalube. The Interceptorr ran ok for me at 40 to 1 about the same as MC1, but it has alot different viscosity. Edited May 25, 2006 by Justintoxicated Quote
csrmel Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 i seen some scary pictures of crank failures linked to amsoil 2 stroke oils on some snow mobile websites.. id be carefull running them. seems that amsoil doesnt protect so well and the cranks of a bunch of sleds rusted up and threw bearings. Roughly $4 a pint, I know I can buy quarts cheaper but the pints are just really convienient especially when I have to fill up out on the trail they are easy to carry and use. Quote

Dead Op Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 I run interceptor in all my sleds and in the Shee' 40:1 it runs awesome for me, and I jetted it with the same ratio too, 40:1 interceptor. My older sled a 99 zl has 4500 miles on it same topend, always ams! I run it in the Firecat and ZR too! Quote
