Eazy Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 Im thinkin' my clutch is starting to slip on me..From what I know its stock, from 00'..What clutch do you guys recommend, new basket, and pressure plate?? What all should I replace? Its not an BIG HP motor, but I want something that will hold up to something like 60-70hp..Anybody? Jeff?? Quote
MILO Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 if i had the $$ to throw at it at the time, i was going to get a complete hinson set up for mine, but that's around $900 if i remember correctly. i did buy the hinson basket though, and settled for a new stock hub and pressure plate with a tusk clutch kit. been working great for about a year now. but i have no idea what kind of hp i'm pushing, probably nothing to brag about. hittintrees srh Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 talk to fast jeff, he'll get ya all set up dont bother buying a spendy aftermarket pressure plate or inner hub, stockers work just fine-might wanna buy some new ones though. Quote

KlotzBanshee Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 It sounds like you've already been taken care of, but I thought I'd let you know I resently replaced mine with a clutch kit from Trinity Racing and WOW, what a HUGH difference! The kit is a little more pricey (like all of Trinity's stuff) than most other brands out there, but I have to say that I'm very impressed. Supposedly its a Yamaha clutch out of a YZF600 R6 made to fit the banshee, 35% more surface area and holds over 90+ HP. And it works with the stock basket, hub, and preasure plate. If you haven't already got something, check it out on their website. Quote

clinton588 Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 give toomey a call, if they have one in stock use only 4 of the springs that come with the kit. if you use all 6 your arm will get tired fast. if they dont have it in stock call hinson. they make a very good clutch also. what kind of oil do you run? Toomey springs are stiffer than any other HD spring out there. Quite a workout. Quote
KlotzBanshee Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 (edited) Thanks guys! Im runnin something like Gold Spectrum 4 Clutch saver...Good/Bad? 517789[/snapback] If you already soaked your fibers in Spectro, stay with it, its good stuff. But if you haven't done it yet, I'd switch to Bel Ray SAE 80W Clutch Saver, its a little better IMO. But you don't want to mix the two. And run all HD springs, unless you're a wuss. 96dragbanshee Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 I would suggest that you check the torque on the springs of the clutch. They may have losened up. This will cause it to slip. The pressure plate needs to be examined for wear problems. If all of this is correct i would suggest you check the ball and rod and make sure they are getting oiled well. If none of this fixes the slipping i would suggest buying a barnett clutch. Even on a low hp banshee this would be the best route. They can withstand that and wont let u down in a month. Quote
