rrr Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 I just bought a chain kit from magic racing: the kit included two sprockets 14/41 supposed to be stock gearing and a EK 104 links o-ring chain. I installed it on my stock shee and without cutting it I could not get a chain slack under 6 inches so I cutted a link and now it just wont fit there is an inch between the two end and there is no way I can connect them . Anybody now what the problem is ? Quote
Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 loosen the top bolt , the two chain tensioners , and the bottom bolt that goes thru the carrer ..... just loosen them dont remove NEXT push your carrier forward to wont go no more , might require some bashing lol..... now try to install the chain if its still too short , you will have to add links ......... once the chain is on with a little play you can tighten the chain adjusters to proper chain tension ( sit on the bike or have someone do it ) .... then tighten all up and ride ...... if u have to add more links , add more links sorry for the typo's im smashed Quote
greg_banshee Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 remember "Measure twice Cut once". i've done that before i think many ppl have haha i just put another link in it & worked fine as long as your not pulling huge horsepower. Quote
Machwon Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 I think the problem is it's a Banshee. They typically won't adjust one link out of a chain. So, I typically put the chain together, and then roll it on tight with the wheels. Ride it very easy for a bit and it will stretch to the proper adjustment. After that you have the full threads to play with. Quote

Bansh88 Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 If you have to add a link, use another Master Link! Don't press an old link back in. I had a similar problem with a new chain and sprocket setup. I hacve 2 master Links in now. Stock Banshee rear end is shitty. Aftermarket Round housings are the way to go. Quote
DIRTMAN350 Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 When i replaced miy chain and sprockets i could not get the chain to go on even with swingarm is the fully relaxed position. I had to drop one size on my front sprocket to get cahin on. after the chain had stretched some i was able to go up to 14 tooth sprocket. Quote
rrr Posted May 13, 2006 Author Report Posted May 13, 2006 I think I will try to get a smaller front sprocket cause I tried everything . 104 links with the adjustement to the tightest gave me something like a 6 inch slack and 102 links with the adjustement to the loosest gave me an inch between each end and could not connect it I checked with my old chain and I had 102 links but the links are not even the same size so I guess it stretched. I have no clue what is the problem with that chain Quote
rrr Posted May 16, 2006 Author Report Posted May 16, 2006 I just tried a 13 tooth front sprocket and remove the lower tensioner and that ****** chain still wont fit . Anybody else bought this kit from magicracing? Racer Kit - Yamaha Kit Includes: JT Chromoly Steel Countershaft JT Steel Rear EK520SRO O-Ring Chain Chain Tensile Strength = 7400 lbs I asked for stock gearing Do you guys think I could grind my swinger to make the adjustement go looser? Any of you as done this, just strechen the holes where the bolt slides? Quote
batoutofshell Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 yeah thats the correct way " stretch " the chain lol , i may be really stoned but you my friend are a moron why would anyone want a chain to stretch thus weakening its structural integrity..... lol 514969 Hey Chase, I hate to burst your bubble but they do stretch bro. When you ride a long time on the same chain it will loosen up do you think the swingarm moves?I have to tighten mine alot its old, No the chain stretches.I drive a truck I can't get stoned!! I have always had problems with the chains, I usaully end up getting a close fit, connecting it while off the rear sprocket and slowlly turning the rear axle to help pull the chain on, I know this ain't right but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!!
