Banshee_19 Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 Hey guys. I just got my banshee and I was wondering what the best gas is to run in it. The quad has pipes and a jet kit. I use a 32:1 ratio. Is it best to run premium or regular? and do you notice the difference? thanks Quote
Slayer1018 Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 Actually, you HAVE to use premium for your Banshee... Says it in the manual.. Quote
Mopar_440 Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 what will happen if you dont run premium in your banshee??? hypotheticly speaking, will it run like shit?? I mixed my banshee at 32:1 and run BR9ES plugs, are those to hot of a plug? Quote
snowprophet1 Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 The 9's are colder than the stock 8's, so that is safe, but the lower the octane, the more chance it will detonate. To fill at banshee tank w/87 octane or 93 octane is not even a dollar differance. I believe it may only require 91 octane. My sticker fell off the tank a long time ago, but it will say in the manual if you have one. Quote
NotsafeFWD Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 If your curious as to what "knock" sounds like, run the 87 or 89. If you wish not to endanger your motor, run the highest octane you can find. Keep in mind the kind of performance your squeezing out of those little cylinders, they need as much oxygen and fuel as they can get. Quote
Justintoxicated Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 91 is fine on stock banshee can't even get 93 at the pumps here in cali. Quote
dawarriorman Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 (edited) 87 will run fine too stock without any detonation if your engine is jetted right, and using the right plugs. If you can keep running 93 octane with a shaved head or smaller domes, then you don't HAVE to have it stock. That being said, don't be cheap, run premium. Edited May 13, 2006 by dawarriorman Quote
Animalman294 Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 If you are still pretty much stock then just run premium fuel. You don't need to run anything higher than that unless you increase your compression above 165. Then you will need to run AV gas or race fuel only because you need to lower the flash point in the cylenders to stop detonation. These fuels will also burn slower which in turn does not create as much heat. So at this point just run 91 or 93 if you can get it........... Quote
