brots06 Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 I just recently bought a 2001 yamaha banshee, and it ran great. It didnt recieve much use in the past year by the previous user and they but some stabil in the gas and they said the gas is a little rich. Could the old gas be causeing the plugs to foul out all of the time? Should i put some new gas in the tank to dilute the old gas, would that help the plugs? What size plugs do i need to buy? Sorry im new to sport quads and i dont know much... Quote
biggun6ss Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Best bet would be to drain the old gas and put some new gas in yourself. If that doesnt fix the problem it could be a jetting problem. Quote
brots06 Posted April 19, 2006 Author Report Posted April 19, 2006 is it pretty easy to drain the gas? is their a plug in the bottom of the tank or what? and what size plugs do i need to buy? thanks! Quote
biggun6ss Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 First turn off the fuel. Then unhook the fuel line running the the T between the carbs. Pull it out to the side and turn the fuel back on and dump the old stuff into whatever container you have. You could always just take an old plug out, go to an autoparts store and get a couple more. I use NGK Iridium BR8EIX in mine and they never want to foul. Quote
crazywheelerman365 Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Theres a tub from the tank to the carbs... Just pull the tube off the carbs and turn on the petcock...Drain the gas...Reinstall the tube....Add new gas.. Quote
steveodo Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 yea drain the gas for shure. my plugs are NGK BR8ES . They work great for me. Quote
bansheeseat$$ Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 part # for spark plugs factory that is.BR8ES.NGK. Quote
brots06 Posted April 19, 2006 Author Report Posted April 19, 2006 should i just go and buy a case of em right off the bad, or should i just buy like 2 or 4 at a time? whats a good price for a single and/or a case? thanks guys for helping a newbie out! Quote
pipebomb Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 (edited) just kiddin' usually they run about $2.50 a plug, give or take 5 or 10 cents depanding on the dealer. they come in singles or in 10 packs. I get the 10 packs, since I have 3 bikes that use the same ones and was having trouble carb probs with my R at one time and kept fouling them left and right. I alway keep a few floating around, cause ya never know when you'll need them, cause there is some cosmic law out there that says when you need them the most you won't be able to get them. dawarriorman Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 I got the BR8EIX just so they won't foul. I have this bad habit of leaving the airbox lid on when I get done cleaning it off (I put it on so water won't get all over the filter). Then I take it for a ride and start cussing when it isn't running right, only to realize the problem once its too late. So far I've only done it once on the iridium plugs, but they still look the exact same, and they didn't foul. Quote
