nv529 Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 I'm running 290 mains(I'm going to change to 310 this weekend to do some winter riding), stock pilots, and stock location on the needle clip. I have this small flat spot in the powerband thats really low in the RPM range 0-1/4 throttle it seem to bog down and then the power hits like a bat out of H*LL.. the bike isn't running lean up top so I'm thinking I need to tweek the pilots or change them out.. I'm 500ft above sea level running 94 octane gas 28:1 ratio all mods listed in sig.. Quote
jmoore Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 I would say... try moving your clip on your needle down one notch or go up one size on your pilot. I had this problem and I moved my clip onto the second notch from the tapered end and it took care of it. Quote
banshdog Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 I would suggest you go up on your pilot jets. Quote
nv529 Posted March 17, 2006 Author Report Posted March 17, 2006 it turned out that my pilot was a lil too lean. I got most of the flat spot out you really don't notice it when riding arounb now. but if you let the bike idle for a couple seconds and then punch the gas there a very small flat spot. I'm going switch out the pilots anyways what should I step up to 27.5s? Quote
sredish Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 raise your needles up a notch or maybe two.... you'll be glad... Quote

I don't want to have to take both carbs off the intake boots if I can get around it because its such peta to get them back on!! but if worst comes to worst I'll do it anyways.. oh and BTW thanks for all the help guys you all rock in my book! sredish Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 yes, you just take off the tops and then slide the whole dealie out the ttop. no need to pull the carbs. Quote

Banshee~ Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 I'm going switch out the pilots anyways what should I step up to 27.5s? 488439[/snapback] Yes, go up to a 27.5 maybe 30 (what I ran with fmf sst's). Id leave the needle alone and put those pilots in first because its easy and will probley fix it. BTW if you dont ride threw ponds and shit get clamp on filters and ditch the airbox. It makes rejetting a breeze. Quote

If your loading up at idle, try leaning out the air screw. also make sore your plugs are good and your air filter is clean. Quote
2twin350s Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 i would lean your premix back too.28-1? man that is rich.if you are running any kind of good premix oil, maxima, klotz, you can get away with at least 36-1 ratio.if you run too rich on your premix,it will give you a bogging feeling.and dont run yamalube or cheap 2 stroke oil.get some good oil and lean back some.you will notice a big difference.
