ghostryder420 Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I'm seeing used v-force 2's going for some pretty good prices on fleabay. But I might just spend the loot on new v-force 3's, I can't decide. What is the difference betweeen the two sets? Obviously the 3's are the newest ones, but are there any real significant differences that would make the 3's the better choice? I would like to take the cheaper route if the 2's are just as good. ellison445 Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 The VF2 are running great on my bike, Do a search..... Everyone on here that owns a set loves them Quote
sheefreak Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 From what I am hearing, there is really no difference in flow, therefore really no gain in horsepower. The 3's have a symmetric reed design, meaning the inner and outer reeds are the same. So no worries wether you got the correct ones when it comes time for replacement. Another thing to think about is the 2's have screws in them. Have heard horror stories of these coming loose and detroying an entire top and bottom end. Little dab of yamalube will fix that problem. The downside of the 3's are they snap together. Some guys on PS have complained of them coming apart(but w/no detrimental effects as compared to the 2's). I personally bought the 3's. For what you pay for them, if they won't stay together, the manufacturer better be replaceing them, or coming up w/some sort of solution. Quote
odaen Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Heard they don't make the 2's anymore, so buying replacement petals in the long run might be difficult and/or expensive. My builder recommended the 3's when I put my stock cylinder 4mm together, and when I talked to him last week, said the same thing - that he's actually seen a slight performance increase with the 3's (like 1HP peak). Both reeds are an oustanding design though, and you won't be disappointed in how they perform. Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 ran twos lost a screw destroyed top end, bought some threes and had them ported to match my 39mm intakes and have not had one problem with them. did not notice a change in performance between the two though. Quote
