Well a buddy of mine bought the new Quadracer and I got to put in about 4 hours of seat time on it today. So based on my opinions I thought you guys might want to know how it stacks up.

Ok, first off, it starts up pretty easy, but you have to warm it completely up, cause it is a cold natured mother. It sets almost exactly like a YFZ. (Feels generally the same). You have to give it a pretty good rev to get it goin, because it seems like it has virtually no bottom end. Its lacking some serious torque. It revs very fast and its a pretty quick bike. It pulls pretty hard all of the way through the power band clear to the top, much like the YFZ. However, I didn't get to compare the 3 side by side, but I've ridden them all and it doesn't feel quite as fast as the YFZ or the 06' 450R. But its probably close. (Now this is stock for stock, don't forget). The handling at high speeds is fantastic. The A-arms and front suspension is superb. The rear shock is a little on the stiff side but feels ok. It jumps beautifully and is very predictable. It goes into turns hard, but is a little funny coming out. It tries to quit steering while hard on the gas, but I think tires could fix this. The brakes are also first rate. Now for slow speed trails. Forget it. Without gassing it, you couldn't turn this thing around in a parking lot. It sucks at narrow tight trails. Not only does it have like a 300 foot turning radius, but that lack of torque makes it that much more difficult to get the wheels spinning. And unless you have the powerband of a Shee, your probably gonna hit something before you go where you want too. So therefore, I don't think its going to be much of a cross country trail quad.

Overall it seems to be on par with the YFZ and 450R. Which is good because I like the competition to be close, but I'm going to have to say that I personally think it comes in 3rd. Not by much, but I still like the Yamaha and Honda better.

And it might. I'm very open in this subject. It was a sweet ride and like I said without having the YFZ and 450R on hand under the same conditions on the same trails its kinda hard to make a real accurate decision on which one is best. I just know its gonna be awesome having Suzuki in the game also. Now if Kawasaki will bring back the Tecate in a 450 form, it will be like 1987 again only with 4 strokes this time.

I'm sure the bike is great. It seems wrong to use the Quadracer name on a four-poke. Especially one with less displacement than one of the two-stroke versions it replaced.

What's next? :confused:

A 315cc twin four-stroke Yamaha Banshee! :cry::cry::cry:

EDIT: Those of us who remember the Quadracer and Banshee in their heyday understand.

I've ridden the LT-R450 a couple times now at glamis. It's problem isn't that it's got no torque down low, it's the gearing. They geared it for motocross on 18" tires, and big paddles really slowed that thing down. But the chassis and suspension are awesome. I think for the money, if you're looking to buy a new 450 quad, suzuki's the way to go.
