RNBRAD
Well my current TV took a small dump (power switch). May take a few weaks to fix, so I'm going to buy another and fix my old one then sell it. I've been out of touch with all this new fangled tv technology. Was just wondering what everyone thought was the way to go? Looking at something in the 60 to 65" range. I've had my eye on the new Mitsu Diamond DLP 62" with 1080p. Damn that thing is expensive but so far the best picture I've seen with the pioneer elite plasma a close second. I checked out some of the Sony SXRD tv's and the JVC and they look pretty good as well. I'd like to see them all side by side but just not possible. Any companies I need to look at before I make my final decision?
bigboybanshee
I've got a 50" Samsung DLP tv and love it, especially for the price compared to plasmas It's a great tv, I've been real happy with the quality of the picture. Watching movies on it is like sitting in a small scale theater.
Gargamel
Just don't get a plasmas unless you like to buy a new one within 4~6 years. The material used in them gets used up as the tv is on. So the more it is on the shorter it will last. You'll start noticing picture getting worst at about 2 years or so. Some of the newer high dollar ones have a better half life but then your talking just that much more money.
dawarriorman
Yeah, Plasma still hasn't been mastered yet. Pixels burn out, and there's no way to fix them. You want a big screen, the new digital projection TVs are the way to go. Sony's SXRD is my pick. DLP TVs are good too, although I don't know how long term reliability would be with them. My good friend has the Pioneer Elite, I think the picture on my Samsung if far more crisp.

bigboybanshee
dlps break easy ..... 475063[/snapback] Where are you basing that info from? I've had mine for a year with about 8 hours use a day off and on; no problems with it yet. The only thing I've heard of going out in the DLP TV's are the lamps, but that's only after an incredibly long amount of hours and they can be replaced really easily. DLP's are some of the best TV's when you want to compare picture quality to price for a large screen tv
RNBRAD
Well went to Ultimate Electronics. Walkd up to the Mitsu 62" DLP daimond series. Dude came up, so I asked him if there was anything in the store with a better picture. He said nope! Said the SXRD were close but still lacked detail compared to the mitsu. Well anyway the delivery boys should be here in a few. Thanks for the info, can't wait to get it hooked up. Oh yea Stephen, those LCD's are pretty sweet. Got the LG 32" a few weaks ago. I just wanted to be able to use it for tv, then switch to the rgb input and browse the net or do a pip style, chat here and watch discovery at the same time. BigRed350x
Here's what I got in the game room. It's a mess because we have a game night once a week and a bunch of guys from work come over and get their asses handed to them in halo. 60" sony Halo on HDTV fucking rocks! Sorry about the blur, had the camera on delay and I guess it didn't auto focus. Edited February 17, 2006 by BigRed350x
