Banshee reverse?

My uncle just got a ski-doo mxz snowmobile. It has a reverse button on it. All you do is push it and it slows down the engine and dies for like a split second and starts back up in reverse. Ski-doo's web site says it electronically slows the engine way down and plays with the timing to run the engine in reverse.

 

If I remember right haven't there been a few stories on here about peoples banshee's starting up in reverse? I'm not sure but is anyone smart evough to figure out how you could do this to a banshee to make it have reverse like the snowmobile? Just an idea....

My guess is it would be pretty hard due to the electronic controls that would be necessary to make it happen easily. Now, I've never tried it on my Banshee, but I will tell you, as most probably know, that a two-stroke will run fine backwards. I found this out hill climbing dirtbikes with some friends. I didn't make a hill and the bike died, rolled back some and started on compression (only in reverse). So then the competition was on to see who could ride their bike in reverse the farthest. Just like going forward with 5 reverse gears. None of us made it very far.

 

edit: The only thing I just thought about is that many guys run manually advanced timing on their bikes (me included), but if you run the bike in reverse, the timing would be retarded by the same amount, which I wouldn't recommend. That would probably be the biggest kicker, as it sounds like the Ski-Doo has electronically controlled timing.

I believe I remember hearing a long time ago, that if you start your banshee backwards, theres a chance the kicker could engage, and if it did, all kinds of stuff gets broken. I don't know of this happening first hand, but I wouldn't be to surprised if it could.

banshees already have reverse..and it simplier than the ski-doo thing..its called get off and push!! pretty simple..no wires,electronics,or buttons needed!

Yeah, i've never really had a need for reverse... turn the bars and wale it! I can say that on my RM it didn't engage the kicker, but who knows? Made for an interesting break.
