NYCBanshee7 Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 I just installed my Noss Head. I didnt use the acorn nuts because they bottom out on the studs, so i used the stock nuts. Now i have coolant leaking through the threads on the studs. Anyone else have this problem? Quote
iceman Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 youre gaskets were good right? and you lined up your rings right? you dont use acorn nuts with the noss head anyways. Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 had this problem with mine, just take the nuts off one at a time and put some rtv on the treads, then torque the nut back down, should be good to go. Quote
locogato11283 Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 hmm both me and my brother use the acorns nuts on ours...no issues at all. id say just take them off one at a time and put some yamabond or othersealer in them... Quote
dawarriorman Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 If you have coolant leaking, its an o-ring problem somewhere. There shouldn't be any leaking no matter what nuts you use. Quote
jeepman380 Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 I had the same problem I just used a little sealant on the threads and retorque the nuts and that helped. Then after I put new domes in it I went with the acorn nuts and those seem to work alot better. No problems with them so far. Quote
NYCBanshee7 Posted January 1, 2006 Author Report Posted January 1, 2006 My o-rings looked perfectly in place during installation. Im going to try the sealant on the threads. But the only concern I have is that the coolant could be getting into the cylinders. Did anyone find this to happen to them? Quote
raymo1979 Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 I have the noss head and i used the cap nuts that came with the head. You should put a little silicone sealer on the stud threads.and for your studs being to long make sure that thay did not losen up from the jugs when you took off the old head.Make sure you use the copper washers and torque the head to 20ft./lbs Quote
bansheeryder21 Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 I used the acorn nuts on mine and had no problems at all. read the directions!!! It says to put RTV sillicone on the threads and then torque! That's axactly what I did and zero leaks!!! Quote
