CadillacBanshee Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 i found a manufactuer of industrial food production machinery near my house. They have hoses for industrial water heating. Anyways i asked them about ome clear high temp hoses and he game me a sample of a clear hose with white webbing in it that can hold the hot radiator water easy. I also took some white pvc hoses there to replace my gas lines. They ballpark figure he gave me was about 7$ a foot! If i buy a roll it comes out to about $5 a foot. Do you guys think i should copy what i used on my quad and put it on ebay? Quote
FasterThanU90 Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 thats a damn good idea i need new hoses im gonna look into that Quote
wesw Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 if you would make a hq deal i would buy some Quote
Malott 1 Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 Someone has been selling those on ebay for $20 for top and bottom. I bought mine at Home Depot and I am pretty sure it was cheaper than $5 dollars a foot. You might want to check there first. Quote
CadillacBanshee Posted December 29, 2005 Author Report Posted December 29, 2005 I've been looking for ever, all i found was a $99 kit. I looked at home depot for a useful hose and found nothing. Got a close up pic of your hose? Quote

I personally wouldn't run this stuff on my quad. But I see people running stuff I would personally pick all the time. Therefore, you might do real well with it, but I'm pretty sure it's readily available. Quote
CadillacBanshee Posted December 29, 2005 Author Report Posted December 29, 2005 It probly is available out there somewhere, but where ever it is i couldn't find it for about a month. Kits i c on ebay are expensive and performance shops charge an arm or a leg for this SIMPLE mod. The only thing hard about it is finding a capable hose. I went to home depot and only found one type of clear hose with that mesh, it was a low pressure hose. Any one have pics of their clear hoses? Quote
RIPPEN Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 I have been thinking about checking into that also. Havn't actually started looking yet. I may be intrested though with a final price... RIPPEN Quote

I'm sure this is what you meant, since you mentioned that the original source was high temp, but thought I would make sure. Quote
BigRed350x Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 (edited) Checked down at local Ace Hardware today and I can get clear high temp hose for $3.72 a foot. Edited December 30, 2005 by BigRed350x Quote

The only thing is the end that goes on the water pump you will have to use a heat gun so you can stretch it over the nipple on the water pump. I ran mine all year last year with no problems. Quote
Malott 1 Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 I went out and looked at mine and it's 3/4 inch ID braided if that helps. Quote
CadillacBanshee Posted December 31, 2005 Author Report Posted December 31, 2005 I have a 1" id braided hose on mine. Supposedly there should be a colored string along the hose indicating temperature ratings, mines is orange. Theres blue, none, orange, red. Fits perfect on the engine side and had to tighten the radiator side a little more. It looks tight. I asked at home depot if that hose i seen would hold 200F water and they said no. What is the average banshee running temp? 212F is boiling(100C) Quote

What is the average banshee running temp? 212F is boiling(100C) 453587[/snapback] Boiling point for pure water at sea level is 212F. You have to add about 3 degrees F per lb of cap pressure, which they are about 15lbs. 3x15=45. 45+212= 257F at sea level before the cap blows to the overflow. Where I'm at around 4400 feet or so above sea level, with a "normal" barometric pressure of 29.9inMg water will boil at around 205 degrees. Adding anti freeze increases the boiling point as well, so its kind of hit and miss once you start adding stuff, and if you change altitudes ect. IMHO you'd need MORE than 250F if you plan on running antifreeze. Quote
RNBRAD Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 You can boil water at 70 degree's iin a vacuum. Quote
