KJO89 Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 (edited) Hey how would porting be with stock pipes? would there still be a big power gain? I ask because i want to keep a stock look and sound. Would it be worth it? thanks Edited December 22, 2005 by KJO89 Quote
RNBRAD Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 I personally wouldn't waste my money like that. First things first, you need pipes if you want performance. Sure you will gain performance but it will be minimal compared to what it could be. Quote
KJO89 Posted December 22, 2005 Author Report Posted December 22, 2005 allright thats what i thought I just want more power and i wanna look stock and not be loud. Quote
rocketboy Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 get some t5 toomeys painted flat black ,dune/drag port it ,cut the stoc k head .035 and run carbon fiber reeds on stock cages ,cut your flywheel and run +5 advanced timing ,silent but deadly lil package Quote
ZillaRider02 Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 I know of a Banshee with Cub cylinders and stock pipes that layed down 55 HP quiet as a church mouse. He was runnin 28 pwk's, stock head and stock timing. Not the way I would do it, but works for him. Quote
locogato11283 Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 the point of porting is to get more air flow..no sense in gettin more flow in the cylinders if you cant flow it out the pipes... Quote
banshee tuner Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 I have ridden with a guy that had stock pipes with a port and shaved head and he run as strong as me with T5's and he was quiet as stock. Quote

They are one of the louder pipes on the market. They also sound nothing like stock. Quote

Why get some of the best cylinders out there and run 'em through the crappiest exhaust available? Sounds like you were thinking the same thing, but his choice. Quote
banshee tuner Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 There was nothing wrong with my bike, but stock pipes and ported is pretty equal to aftermarket pipes and no porting. I would not beleived it if I did not see it. The only bike that could clearly smoke him had t5's and porting. Quote
Ducman Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 Get T-5's with toomeys hush kit. It is very quiet, practically as quiet as stock but sounds better and a big improvement in power. If you want quiet that is the way to go. Quote

If you want quiet that is the way to go. 451226[/snapback] I kinda like mine being loud since everywhere I ride is either private property or doesn't have noise restrictions. I hope to take some vacation time this summer and head out to oregon and the dunes on the way out there, so I will have to get one of those before I go. As long as I ride here in wyoming though, I love the loud screaming the T5's have. Quote
2003LimitedBanshee Posted December 24, 2005 Report Posted December 24, 2005 I do all of my riding at the Oregon dunes and have yet to be bothered for my T5's with no hush kit. I have heard that they were cracking down even more, but I made about 8-10 trips over this year, rode by many Rangers (easily though) and wasn't stopped once. Maybe just luck. Quote
KJO89 Posted December 24, 2005 Author Report Posted December 24, 2005 yeah i wish i wouldnt have to worry about noise The problem is where i ride i have to go down my street and my dam neighbors always call the cops! even though i go past there house nice and slow and it lonly takes 20seconds to get there they still call. so i dont want them to hear me.
