8buck Posted December 10, 2005 Report Posted December 10, 2005 I can hear that it's running lean on the bottom end because it's "pinging" as if it is running out of fuel. I do have Power jets in the carbs and was wondering if adjusting them changes the air fuel ratio through the entire rpm range or just the top end. Quote
Malott 1 Posted December 10, 2005 Report Posted December 10, 2005 Best bet would be to go up a size on your pilots. Quote
Fireman-hott Posted December 10, 2005 Report Posted December 10, 2005 1 size for every 15-20* from the temp you jetted at. colder go upwards warmer go downwards. Quote
Banchetta Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 pinging on the low end has nothing to do w/ the jetting, but is the synchroning of the carbs. One side is pulling the other...make sure the slides are equally off the bottom of the carbs and cables are adjusted right. Quote
8buck Posted December 11, 2005 Author Report Posted December 11, 2005 I'll check that for sure, but, my YZ sounds the same way when it's runnung out of fuel and runs lean for a second . This fall we went to the dunes and it was about 40* outside and it ran that way all day, the next weekend it was 70* (Idaho weather) and it ran fine. Now it's like 20* and it's doing it just a little worse than when it was 40* I know I know, check the plugs and find out for sure. I just need to know if I can just open up the Power jets a little or if I need to pull the carbs and rejet. Quote
fast87 Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 use the power jets...i adjusted min fully closed which was a mistake..i think i blew the top end, anyway open it up 1/4 turn at a time to be safe, good luck ~Mark~ Quote
