lastlegwarrior Posted November 18, 2005 Report Posted November 18, 2005 i've got $250 and i was wondering where it should be spent, well of course the engine, but on what? And yes i did a search on this topic and most people narrowed it down to reeds or a coolhead/nosshead. I did have a question about the coolhead and nosshead, what is the difference in the two? So what should i spend the money, reeds, coolhead/nosshead? Here's my setup 2000 banshee T-5's Hot Rods crank and wiesco pistons clamp-on K&N's +4 timing lightened flywheel and either a 310 or 320 main Riding Style: Just general riding around, tooling around with buddies (they ride a 660 raptor, Z-400, and a KFX 400. I do like wide open top end runs, but i do ride trails any chance i get, just not real tight ones. obviously. Thanks for the replies. Quote
hittintrees srh Posted November 18, 2005 Report Posted November 18, 2005 Reeds are a good buy for your dough. As for the heads-there very simmiler, but with a noss head you use your stock head studs, and you can also get it in differant colors. NOSS all the way!!!!!! Quote
macgillivary Posted November 18, 2005 Report Posted November 18, 2005 if you got $250 gorr port Quote

99Banshee Posted November 18, 2005 Report Posted November 18, 2005 i concur..(that means i think this is a good idea as well) 438643 LOL..mr to I would go with v-force or get it ported..But I think you would be better off to get the V-forces and get the porting next time around.. Quote
Wallrat Posted November 18, 2005 Report Posted November 18, 2005 You'll get more bang for the buck with porting but if you think you might eventually want a stroker you're better off getting the reeds. Quote
lastlegwarrior Posted November 18, 2005 Author Report Posted November 18, 2005 Well i know for sure i don't want to make it a stroker, i shouldn't say don't want to, just can't afford it. But definitely no stroker, unless of course i get a little lonely and no one's around. Kidding, geez. I think i'll do the gorr port, what will i gain and what will i lose? Also if you got a gorr port tell me what you thought of it. Another question, will i be able to run the stock carb setup with this port? I plan on upgrading the carbs (bigger ones, 34's maybe) but that won't be till about april/mayish. How do i get a hold of this guy so i can find out some prices and info? Keep the replies coming, thanks. Quote

Keep the replies coming, thanks. 438678 the porting is gonna run more than $250 most likely. there's shipping, gaskets, and probably new pistons, a hone job, possible bore....... for a simple bolt on with no headaches or downtime, I'd put the reeds on, or save my money til I had enough for new pistons and such. if you didn't care about the length of down time, you could sell your cylinders and probably pick a set of used ones that have been ported for a very similar price. the cubs have put a pretty large surplus of ported stock cylinders on the market. people that spent a grand on drag porting are selling their cylinders for nothing, because nobody wants them anymore in favor of the cub. lastlegwarrior Posted November 18, 2005 Author Report Posted November 18, 2005 I realize that it will be a lil more than $250 but i shouldn't need a rebuild, about a year ago i rebuilt it with weisco's and a hot rods crank. But in that years time i've ridden the banshee probably twenty five or thirty hours. And yes i realize i will need to get new gaskets but i actually think i might have some laying around. What do you think? Quote
lastlegwarrior Posted November 18, 2005 Author Report Posted November 18, 2005 also i think my cylinders right now .030 over, if that helps anyone in providing me with some advice. Quote
sheecandy Posted November 18, 2005 Report Posted November 18, 2005 porting is gonna give you the most bang for the buck if you take the cylinders of i would at least hone them and get new rings if $250. is your budget i would get the stock head shaved 30 thou. with the left over $$$ i would get some race fuel you might need it with your +4 timing Quote
