face_off Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 hi all . i have the GYT-R cdi on my banshee and in the yamaha web site they say it gives hotter spark plug with good dyno chart bout my question is does it advance the timming or its a stock timming with only hotter spark plug and digital signal ? Quote
iceman Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 no. to advance the timing you need either a timing key or a adjustable plate. Quote
odaen Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 that's really surprising to me, considering how much those things are. hotter spark prolly ain't gonna do jack for a gas motor. Quote
rocketboy Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 in my experiance hotter spark will definitly help regardless ,but i dont see the cdi making alot hotter spark like a hotter coil/wires would Quote

Nology coil & gyt-r cdi. The cdi got off e-bay cheap brand new. Somebody had a special on them. They claimed that the timming is advanced. I don't know how much though if it is or not. It looks like the same plastic & bracket as the dyna fs ignition. Its not a programable unit, It's a fixed unit. When I connected that nology coil with this gyt-r cdi to my 535 10/mm.Yes it did make differance. Quote
face_off Posted November 12, 2005 Author Report Posted November 12, 2005 (edited) lonestar did you advance the timming with your setup or not ? Ducman : sayes on other thread that the GYT-R cdi advance the timing about +3 over stock . Edited November 12, 2005 by face_off Quote

Ducman : sayes on other thread that the GYT-R cdi advance the timing about +3 over stock . 436015[/snapback] Yes about +3 on the timming plate it's been their since the engine been built. I could go more but with this motor Im haveing problems with traction. I don't care what tires you put on it. It's like a four stroke power band. No lite switch power band like my other motor was. This motor comes out the hole like being shot out of cannon. LOVE IT Quote
face_off Posted November 12, 2005 Author Report Posted November 12, 2005 no lonestar you get me rong im not saying that your engine is advanced ! im saying that Ducman on other thread talking about the GYT-R CDI ignition has +3 timing over stock CDI so is this true or not ? Quote

Like I said before. When this motor was put into the frame the timming plate was set at +3. I was wondering my self if this unit was programed with advanced timming not sure can't tell-ya. With this motor I sould be at +8 but not knowing if this cdi had advanced timming built-in I started off +3 on the timming plate. If you really whant to know call yamaha then will both know. iceman Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 the gytr cdi is fine. it wont advance your timing but if you combine with some hotter wires you may a see a difference like rocketboy said. Quote
face_off Posted November 13, 2005 Author Report Posted November 13, 2005 from where i can get the hot wire any brand or website ? http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...c=46603&hl=gytr Quote

chevyboy51 Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 from where i can get the hot wire any brand or website ? I just put in a set of 8mm Taylor Sprio pros in my stock coil. I think i got them from chaparral or dennis kirk only like 15 bucks. they seem to make the spark stronger and it started better and didn't die in every puddle like the stock ones Quote
face_off Posted November 16, 2005 Author Report Posted November 16, 2005 chevyboy51 how did you install the 8mm Taylor Sprio pros in your stock coil the stock wire are fixed in the coil ? can you send any pic of your coil after the mod you done in it and what did you use for the plug caps ? Quote
