Bansh88 Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 I powdercoated a set of triple rates a while back. $60. Paint could get messy when trying to get a coat on the inner springs. Quote
'shee Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 will the paint chip if you were to paint it instead of powdercoating. Quote
locogato11283 Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 PC will hold up great..my bro did a set of 450 springs..they looked awesome and never chipped or anything. Quote
04ShEeLE Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 I had mine painted andn now they are powdercoated. Either way is find. Although painting is cheaper, it does take many coats to ensure coverage on the inner part of the rings. Paint won't chip, if you take your time with it. It's a difference of about $50 and some of your time. You make the choice. Quote
Wallrat Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 I think I remember DUNEDEMON saying that the heat is going to affect the spring's performance characteristics if you go PC. He used to work for Eibach. Quote
04ShEeLE Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 That was what I thought at first, and then I was told that powder coating is baked on at only 400 degrees, like what you cook your turkey dinner at. I don't think it would have any affect on the spring rate. Quote
Wallrat Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 Actually that's pretty hot. No its not anywhere near melting point, but I'd be amazed if you didn't see some changes in the characteristics of the spring. I pm'd DUNEDEMON this thread, hopefully he'll chime in. That guy knows just about everything there is about springs after having been in charge of R&D at eibach. Quote
99Banshee Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 I think I would p.c. them..id look alot nicer imo. Your not going to tell any different in the spring besides it looking like brand new.. Quote
DUNEDEMON Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 PC is fine as long as they dont bake the old PC or paint off. 400deg F or so you're fine, will not affect the springs charistics. Coat them and be done with it already, not that big of a decision. Quote

Donoyfz450 Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 theres a few guys on YFZCentral who will do front springs for around $20-$30 bucks if theyre stripped. I forget who all does it for the cheapest. Heres a local place that are cool guys and nice to work with. http://www.haleyengineeredperformance.com/ Quote
