01bansheefox Posted October 2, 2005 Report Posted October 2, 2005 Does that mean I can never register it again or what? Had the frame powdercoated now it is gone. Quote
Otis Posted October 2, 2005 Report Posted October 2, 2005 isnt the VIN engraved into the frame??..cant ya scrape the pc away?.... how thick is that stuff?? Quote
8buck Posted October 2, 2005 Report Posted October 2, 2005 If you really don't want to scrape the powdercoat off, you can take it to the courthouse and have an inspector look at it and he/she can give you a new legal VIN. Just tell them the sandblaster took it off accidently, worked for me. Quote

The woman came out and looked at it, then axed me if I could just take the powder coat off. I then told her I had just spent nearly 200 between sand blasting and powdercoating the frame, and that even if I did, the sand blaster could have ruined the VIN anyway. She just gave me a new metal foil tag that I had to rivet onto my frame, then get it reinspected and recorded. On my drag bike I'm just going to tell them that I fabbed it myself. Quote
