jaysea1 Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 I thought I would ask you married guys which bike would better suit the lady. I was looking for low maintenance excellent reliability. I was thinking a honda 400x(4900$ out the door price...'05) or the Z400. I'm looking to save a little $, and I don't think she'll handle the Banshee too well. Blaster? Iwant her to be able to keep up with me somewhat, and be pretty comfy(we only ride in the dunes) Quote
2twin350s Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 if ya can afford it get the z-400. they have been good bikes with lots of power.and they have reverse. blaster, no way.too small.plus the z has more power than a 400ex.seen a lot of 400ex engines go south. Quote
iceman Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 my friends wife has a z400 and she loves it. Quote
sp1tekiller Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 Pick her up a used 400EX. You can save some cash, and sell it and get her a Banshee when she is ready for it. Quote
rocketboy Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 if your wife is small framed id get a new blaster.. mine loves her new blaster and for the price of these peppy lil' bastards you can afford to buy her a new or newer one .the blaster is alot better now than the older ones before 03 '. my wife loves hers and wouldnt trade it for any of the new four strokes shes tested ,for a 5'4- 110 pund frame its a great size .its easy to throw around at just a little over 300 lbs ,starts easy, and requires very littel investment to speed up .if she wants more power later than you can easily get a ton more out of it . she'll enjoy sharing the oil mixing duties and maintenance with you and itll help her understand quads and repairs & modifications this way too.its not right for every wife out there , but it should definilty be considered IMHO Quote
bansheenut Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 yes people underestamate blasters very much.... i have had them for about 5 years now and there fun quads... you can get so much stuff for them now too... you can get +5 5/8 a arms that require long travle shocks... that for ablaster is awsome...a arms are like 400-500 too... can rund yfz shocks.... they also make long travle rears and all... they are very nice machines and with minor money you can make them fast... some awsome mods i found out are +4 banshee alxes fit and make it +7 in the rear... whitch is awsome... looks crazy too... that with teh +5 5/8 a arms is a sick combo... you can also get pipes, porting, and reeds for how much pipes cost for a shee... blaster hq got hacked and died so check out www.planetblaster.org.... that should give ya some more info on blasters man.... and btw here is what a few of mine used to look like.... if you need to talk to someone about blasters send me a pm or something... i know quite a bit about them... had them apart for new mods more than i can count Quote
Toomey Banshee Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 I would suggest a really fast quad with no brakes. Quote
thegroup Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 I would suggest a really fast quad with no brakes. 421195[/snapback] quadzillia (moded out the ass of course) right??????????? Quote
2twin350s Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 blasters are not good for dunes, z 400 all the way, they hold their resale value better too. you can get blasters all day long for 1500 only a year old. Quote
rjvoight Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 Started my wife on a blaster. She out grew it in about 1 season. It is a great little bike, dont get me wrong and they are relatively cheap. As to how they go on the sand, we ran a set of geckos on it and it went just fine everywhere. With that said, after about a season of riding she was ready to jump up. We got her a Raptor 660, K&N, White Bros E2 Pipe/Jet Kit and dropped the front sprocket one tooth. It is way easier for her to ride, way more comfortable and she is way more confident on it than she ever was on the blaster. She is 506 and bout 135-140 and loves the bike, is completely comfortable. I cant shake her now either. Best bike decision we ever made was going for the Raptor for her. Also the day drags on and she gets tired or lazy, the Raptor is so forgiving. She can just leave it in 2nd or 3rd and not worry bout reving it out or killing it. If I was you, I would look at some stock or mildly modded used Raptors. RJV Quote
