Banshee8 Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 question...blew my stock motor on a 97 banshee...bought jugs and pistons that were .40 over....never used...i put the engine back together and ever since the motor rebuild it has no power band...almost seems as if the choke is contstantly on...never clears out...i rode it for about 20 minutes and same result...modifications are minimal...pipes,reeds,280 jets, and of course the .40 over...if anyone has any ideas as to where to start or what could be a possible problem i would greatly appreciate it...thanks Quote
trail rider Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 just curious, did u forget to put the stock powerband back in when u was putting the wiggle pin on the wobble shaft? lol j.k but it could be nething really, mebbe ur rings hasn't seated yet? Quote
04bansheebuilt Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 what do your plugs look like? it seems like 280 jets are kidda big. I am runnin one size bigger in mine. I have reeds fmf fatty, boost bottle, degree chip, ported head. Quote
Banshee8 Posted August 17, 2005 Author Report Posted August 17, 2005 i thought about the jet too but my friend is running .50 over with the same jets and he is fine....but the plugs look wet..not soaked but there defenatly wet..not sure.... Quote
gatesy Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 Could it be the choke tube? (the tube that come off the choke in between the carbs). I had that happen to me and it was a blocked breather hose Quote
Banshee8 Posted August 17, 2005 Author Report Posted August 17, 2005 i thought that myself but i checked that and it was fine...that has also happened to me Quote
Banshee8 Posted August 19, 2005 Author Report Posted August 19, 2005 im gonna tear this thing apart tomorrow...if anyone has any helpful information i would love to hear from you...thanks Quote
Cannon Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 How much compression does it have ? What head &/or domes you running? Quote
y2kbanshee9187 Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 I dont know what kind of carb you have but I have a lectron and mine was doing that after I put new pistons in. I figured out it was because I put the needle in the carb in backwards. There is a flat side and rounded side and I put the wrong one forward. Just a thought. Good luck. Quote
rebelbanshee2 Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 have you tried new plugs?? a fouled plug can do that. Also do a leak down test, If you have a massive air leak it could be pulling enough air to totaly swamp it out Quote
Banshee8 Posted August 19, 2005 Author Report Posted August 19, 2005 i wanna thank everybody for there ideas...im gonna tear it down this weekend and get er runnin...ill post up monday as to what was wrong so maybe someone else wont hae the same problem...thanks again Quote
dajogejr Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 List your specs, as far as what kind of pipes, your airbox/filter situation... Also, list your air temperature and riding elevation. I'd do the following: Compression test on each cylinder, both cold then hot, fully warmed. Check all electrical connections, including ground wires, plugs (new ones) caps, etc. Pull each carb off, clean the bejezus out of every hole in her...jets, tubes, etc. Make sure each carb is synced... I ran mine once after changing my mains...and it ran like total crap. All it needed was the carbs resynced.... Make sure you got fresh premium gas, too. Quote
SANDSTAR Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 That really sounds like a fouled plug. Quote
