RNBRAD Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 What's the point of 300 ft lbs of torque? Wouldn't that just spin you around and around. Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 naw HP is HP. and the reason for that diff is cause of the RPM. a diisel will only rev out to like 3500 - 4000. instead of 9500 like that turbine. and Stan you should hear this fucker. sounds like im on tony stwearts pit crew, it rocks. 402111 LOL You've been out in the drive way taking a tire off, putting it back on and timing yourself haven't you..... Fireman-hott Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 Funny you mention that, I timed myself awhile back, dont remember the actual time, but it was just taking it off as I was doing a brake job on the ol ladys car. Hp doesn't have to be a constant when related to torque. Just look at a lot of dynos. Quote
locogato11283 Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 dont tell me your going to "detune " your snap-on 402124 uh oh...dont get that started again!! Quote
VinceDizzy Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 Depends on what builder you have port it. 402085 Quote
racer Posted August 8, 2005 Author Report Posted August 8, 2005 What's the point of 300 ft lbs of torque? Wouldn't that just spin you around and around. 402127 well its not like 300 pounds of torque that comes on constantly. it comes on about 1400 blows per minutre so its like a vibration. and it only gets 300 in reverse, about 250 in forward. that way you can take off everything you put on. my other impact doesnt do that and it is a PITA. PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 so are 3/8 impact wrenches trail friendly? 401995 I hear if you ding up the impellor or else suck up 1 oz of bubble gum it'll detune it to trail friendly standards Quote
bansheeryder_69 Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 I hear if you ding up the impellor or else suck up 1 oz of bubble gum it'll detune it to trail friendly standards 402334 just underrun the compressor, but you risk the chance of burning that up Quote
reded Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 Funny you guys mention porting, cause you actually can port them and make more power...23champ has a Blue Point that is mean as a mf'er. I think he put a drag port on it! Gotta be careful tho cause if ya go too far you'll ruin it. Quote
racer Posted August 8, 2005 Author Report Posted August 8, 2005 uh oh. give us more details on porting an impact wrench Quote
reded Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 all you gotta do is take it apart and you'll see the ports that the air travels through coming into the turbine and leaving it. Just drill them out a little bit bigger and try it. Go up a little bit at a time until you think its prolly maxed out and gonna start losing power. I saw a guy at a former job port an Ingersol, and it would bust the head off a grade 8 3/8 bolt when it hit bottom. Quote

reded Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 OK, ya got me, your story is bigger and better than mine, good for you! Quote
rocketboy Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 im gonna go out on a limb here... and say if you decide on "porting" your 3/8" impact ,you should probably look into a bigger model instead of dremeling out inlet air chambers for more power besides ,snap-on is the "cheetah " of power equipment anyways Quote
