ellison445 Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 I was flipping through the pages of Septembers copy of dirtwheels and I noticed toomey has come out with an exhaust for the YFZ 450. I thought toomey claimed they would never make exhaust for 4 stroke bike? They also claim this exhaust will make a 4stroke sound like a 2 stroke, how I have no fucking clue. But what do you guys think of this? Quote
bigboybanshee Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 That is the first I've heard of this....I can't imagine being able to make a 4 stroke engine sound like a 2 stroke engine but who knows. I'd be interested to hear more info about it though... Quote
Banshee~ Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 My friend told me about it and I dident find it on there site, so I told him he was full of shit Quote
Toomey Banshee Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 I saw that as well. From my understanding its just a slip on pipe, no head pipe. If your interested just go on their site and ask for yourself. They have always responded to my e-mails, most of the time Toomey himself. Quote
ellison445 Posted August 1, 2005 Author Report Posted August 1, 2005 Its on page 190 of dirtwheels. I will snap a pic when I get home. My friend told me about it and I dident find it on there site, so I told him he was full of shit 399628 Quote
rptorman Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 It doesn't say it will make it sound like a 2 stroke. It says awesome Toomey sound, but then again Toomey has always been about 2 strokes. I guess we'll find out sooner or later. Quote
ellison445 Posted August 1, 2005 Author Report Posted August 1, 2005 (edited) My point exactly, What does a toomey pipe sound like? all toomey pipes sound the same becuase they are all 2 stroke pipes! So if they are saying this pipe is going to have the same sound as the other pipes It doesn't say it will make it sound like a 2 stroke. It says awesome Toomey sound, but then again Toomey has always been about 2 strokes. I guess we'll find out sooner or later. 399638 Edited August 1, 2005 by ellison445 Quote
BansheeJen Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Toomey has a distinct sound to it. Especially at high speeds. That's like saying all 2 strokes sound alike and they dont. I imagine Toomey is trying to step into the market in another area, which if its a good pipe will only make him that much more money. Always nice to expand your product line to bring in more customers. I really like my HMF, but Toomey was awesome on the banshee and I would not hesitate to be a repeat customer to Toomey again. Quote
rocketboy Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 this is a sad day for 2 stroke fans IMO. it only takes a free flowing silencer to really wake up a bottled 4 poke, they all gain dam n near the same anyways, so its really no revolutionary design a 2 stroke pipe is much much more involved however Quote

locogato11283 Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 i think they are making some good choices. no reason they cant branch out. toomey makes awesome pipes and i gaurantee this one will be no different. their name alone sells many pipes. Quote

NYUK Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 toomey has to be feeling a big dent in his wallet with all the thumpers being sold.with no more new banshees being produced how long do you think he would stay in buisness selling 2 stroke pipes?not very long, 90 out of 100 new banshee owners, the first thing they want is toomey pipes.it is only smart buisness for him to do some r&d on the thumpers to keep money flowing in.when i bought my 2000 off the showroom,i wanted the t5 pro racer kit bolted on before i left the shop. RNBRAD Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Defintely a smart business move. They have a name and many will buy it just for that. Though they will have to step up the quality to compete with the other 4 stroke lines. Titanium and stainless run exclusive in the higher end systems. Quote
