BrianEb Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Ok, here we go be patience with me. My buddy took hi shee to CSA to get the TORs Elim Kit put on, but he also told them he was having trouble starting the shee. CSA told him he had a weak pulse generator in his stator, that maybe was due to the kill switch that was spliced into the ignition coil. CSA said that had to be fixed before they could put on the TORs elim kit. So we decided to change the stator ourselves So he bought a new stator from Ricky Stator set the timing to +3 put it all back together and now it won't start. I could get it started last weekend before he had changed the new stator out. Does anybody know why it won't start now. Quote
trex banshee Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 just make sure all your connections are good to your new stator, make sure thbolts holding your stator plate are tight so it doesn't jump time. have you checked your plugs for spark?? Quote
BrianEb Posted July 25, 2005 Author Report Posted July 25, 2005 Yes we put in new plugs, We also check the connection yellow to yellow black to black. and then the other plastic connector. Quote
switchblade Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 make sure the wires in the plastic connector haven't been pushed out the back of the connector. I've had several do that. It looks like they are connected but they are not. Quote
Rare Scottish Tree Badger Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 The pick-up coil gap setting on the RS stator is almost half that of the OEM. ... 0.010" as opposed to 0.018" Also try backing off the timing to stock until you get her running. Rare. Quote
BrianEb Posted July 25, 2005 Author Report Posted July 25, 2005 I'll have him check the plastic connectors also I'll have him check the gap Quote
fast500#12 Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 nine times out of ten it is going to be the pick up coil gap as said before. make sure that you check the conectors to ,my ricky stator conector pushed out a pin also. Quote
Dunsmoor86 Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 I have gone through 2 ricky stators one of them went bad after 6 months the other was brand new but sent it back in and said it was no good? Quote
ledofthezep Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 You may check the connecting prongs in the connector. After I'd rebuilt mine, when I reconnected the stator connector, one of the little prongs got pushed over & didn't go into the slot it was supposed to, looked fine, but it wasn't. While in the process of disconnecting the stator to trash it, I noticed that prong in the male end was bent over a bit, straitened it & put it back on there...whala. Perhaps he'll be lucky too & it'll be that easy. Quote
