I'm always hearing about them on ATV dealer comericals, and was wondring what exactaly you learn in it and if its worth taking one. I've been riding the banshee for a while and feed fairly confident in my safty habits and what not, and my dad taught me all the basics when I started on on mini bikes and such.

So any one hear take it, was it worth it?

It's only worth it if you get freebies like gift certificates for taking it! :bolt:

I actually took one right after I bought my YFZ450. They were offering me a 100 bucks off my quad if I went and "passed"...LOL

It was pretty cool, especially since my friend and I were the only two there on sport quads; everyone else had giant utility quads. They basically go over proper riding techniques and such and then you go out and do it. Our teacher had a bunch of cones in the middle of this field and we just used them as a track. We had a great time though, our teacher had my buddy and I leading the group around the cones, he could clearly tell we weren't there for the training, we were there for the money.

I did learn a thing or two, if you have the opportunity to go...do it. It's only a couple of hours and most dealers will give you some $$$$ for going.

hell, after i bought my 04 shee, they sent me a dollar in the mail, with a little survey about quads and riding areas, and i filled out the quiz, and then they sent me a list of dates and places to take the class... they gave me $99 more dollars when i passed. all they really did was repeat to wear a helmet... oh and to stay below 15 MPH in the trails... How to take turns slowly and safely... and you always need a helmet... and no passengers... and wear a friggin helmet... and just because the ATV will go fast, doesnt mean you have to go that fast...

i felt all weird because i was there on a banshee, and all the other people there were like 60 years old, and on like honda Rincons and stuff... i was all kinda out of place. worth the $100 though.

haha i could see it now all old guys on grizzly's and stuff, and one guy on a full blown race quad with everything you coudl possibly do and an engine from hell taking a saftey course. Now that would be worth the fun right there

haha thats kinda what it was like for me. i had the shee, piped, nerfs, maier plastics, alba graphix and numbers, and holeshots all around... and then the other 12 people were 6 guys, and their wives. the poor guys just had to take the class because their wives thought it was a good idea, plus they wanted to learn to ride too so they could ruin the "guys" weekends.

and when the instructors kept talking about speeding, and not having to use all the power that the ATV had, they kept eyeballing me. they assumed that i was the hellion in the group. they were probably right.

I took my cousin to get a safety cert. so he could ride a silver lake. Took it through MATAVA. I kept talking to the guy asking if I could ride a little as possible, I was worried about overheating. I'm piped, 19cc domes Vforce2s 38mm carbs, Grand River port job, lockup clutch 16/41 gearing on 22 in. trail tires running c12. He kept talking crap about everyone who takes the class with a banshee with pipes thinks its a super bike and all that stuff. So we took a little break in the training and he asked me if he could ride my bike, I said sure no problem he takes of across the field on the rear tires and hits a couple of hills with some great air and comes back on the two right side tires with the left ones in the air just balancing perfect. He gets off and says nice bike runs like my Duncan ported machine, hang out and later will hit the moguls on the other side of the woods. Needless to say I had fun at rider training, did learn some interesting facts about the atv laws, and some riding tips.

The safety officer on my ship is hassling me about a safety course because i tore my right acl and did a class 3 sprain of my ankle on a glamis trip.

I took a Snowmobile training course, a while back. The instructor said the proper speed on trails fro my experience is speeds slower that 35 mph, I almost fell out of my chair laughing
