well guys i got a 1993 Banshee frame from a buddy of mine, no motor. so im thinking about putting a street bike motor in it.

ive got a custom bike shop that said they can do the welding and frame mods, so my question is:

What motors should i look into?

im looking for something in the 600cc class, because i still want to be able to ride it without having to haul ass. and i want sometihng that is still decently reliable.

also, which motor would be the easiest to acutally mount in there?

any help is appreciated, haha, i know someone on here knows something about this stuff.

thanks again

yea i was looking into a gsxr750 motor that is actually for sale at the shop that will be doing most of the welding, but i dont know if it will fit easily

I think a gixxer 750 motor would be sweet. None of the motors are gonna fit easy. So you might as well forget it. Ur gonna have to do modification to the frame no matter what.

yea stephen, thats what i figured. and thats also why im not doing the welding. i just have to bend all the pipe, and tack it in there about where it needs to go, and they will do the rest. so i guess ill see what kinda deal they can give me on the 750.

The engine basket in a banshee frame is around 15" tall, and my 600 is 24 inches tall, unless I want the oil pan to hang down 3-4 inches, then I can get away with about 20" of frame height.

Thats why I built my own frame from the ground up.

I hope to build a frame jig to build a frame to accept street bike engines. Just have to get this project done first to see if its worth while and how easy/hard its going to be.

are you wantin to run carbs or efi? if you wanna run carbs stay far away from a 600rr motor..it takes a lot of custom parts to do it. you can do it with an f4i easier, but in the end its not as easy to adjust...so its a tradeoff. i would just buy a carbed motor unless you wanna try to fab up some sort of fucked up air box or like stan, know what everything does and how to bypass it. also, this project is gonna take a lot more than you think. cutting, welding, bending and all that take alot of time and i wouldnt trust anyone but myself to work on mine. i would NEVER not be there...simple as that. if you trust them thats fine but do these people have the first clue as to how these things work? if not i would consider other plans...

GIXXER OR CBR, EITHER ONE WOULD BE GREAT. MY BUDDY HAS AN 1986 250R FRAME WITH A HONDA F3 MOTOR. ONLY PROBLEM IS HOOKIN THEN U GOTTA WORRY ABOUT MOUSETRAPPIN IT.

if you are going to put a street bike motor why not go for the gusto and use the suzuki huyabusa...its the fastest one you can find..a guy i camp with has one in a single seat buggy and its a rocket.. its a 1300cc 4 stroke built for street bike racing they fly

The main reason for not using the hayabusa is this....

cbr engine = $500-$1200

hayabusa = $3000 and up

Its worth it if you can get ahold of one though.

what about a new R1? those motors probably weigh less since they are 300cc smaller.

just wait until yamaha has a killer financing deal on those, then wait another month because all the guys who belong on rebel 250s bought the R1 cause they got financed. now they are in the service dept of the dealer because the got laid over, twice or more.
