If I remember correctly, they made 4 different FMF pipes for a Banshee. They are the "Gold Series", "Fatties", "Gnarlies", and "SST's". I am not sure on the power differences among them, but I know they are different.

like i said not %100 sure on that question. alot of companies stop making good pipes, doesnt always mean newer is better. the old fmf's were susposed to perform better than the new ones, I read on a post a while back.

how rusted is it? the cr i have had some rust on the fmf pipe it had, so i just took it off, got a steel wool pad and some soap and just scrubbed away on it. it did not have that much rust, so i dont know how good it works if it is heavy. then i always polish my pipes with mothers, shines them real good.

I've been told that the Fatties are the best. Also have been told that hte SST's are junk but I can't say how confident I was in that comment. I also just remembered that FMF also made a "hi-rev" pipe. There is actually one set on Ebay right now (cheap too) from J & R racing I believe.

As for the rust, get some Muriatic acid from a hardware store and spray/wipe it on the rust. It will eat it right away then wash the acid off with LOTS of water and dry it quickly. Besure ot get all the acid and water because it will actually cause rust if you do not.

Muriatic acid is also known as 30% Hydrochloric acid or HCl

I also have the old school fmf gold series. The person who sold them to me told me said they where fattys but is there any way to really tell? They look just like the new fattys and I use just about the same jetting as the new ones but there factory black not nickel platted. Did they only make certain ones in black? Anybody?

I have the Golds series Mid/Tourques on my 89 and wondered the same thing. I called FMF and they told me that mine are the same as today's fatties.

Those old school silencers sound awesome!!
