Lou1 Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 Hey Guys, After some great advice from this forum I was able to remove my flywheel, without a whole lot of trouble. The problem is I damaged the end of the crankshaft so the new flywheel will not tighten up. Do I have to replace the whole crankshaft? Can I just buy the end piece? How hard will it be to remove and install? What should I do and not do? Sorry for all of the questions I just do not want to make it any worse. Thanks Lou Quote

broke Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 TDR will do just about anything you need done to a crank, Twister may too. The question really is, "Do I even want to spend that kind of money on a stock crank?" If there is significant damage, just use it as a learning experience and buy a new one of even just another stocker. Quote
mybadbanshee Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 TDR does great work but id just shell out 400 bucks and get a welded and trued crank from them. Quote
Shee-Male Posted June 18, 2005 Report Posted June 18, 2005 Are you using a proper flywheel puller in the first place?, if not get one! Quote

If you dont have the $ to go out and buy a new crank (providing your pins are worn) buy a trashed crank and take the end off. When I rebuilt mine, the keyway was totally whopped out and I thought I might have to get a new crank *thinks stroker* but the guy that I was ordering parts through and doing my machining just gave me a new end piece off of a trash crank. They are for the most part rebuildable, but sometimes not worth the effort. While you have it out, have it trued/welded. -- Read this post --How Much Money To True And Weld My Crank? Quote
