im new to the whole streetbike scene, ive ridden dirtbikes for a long time, and i know they are really nothing like riding a burner. I am really thinking about getting something in the 600 class, maybe a cbr, or gsx-r, im looking to spend around 4 to 5 thousand and i want to finance used from a dealer. Do they require full coverage for that amount financed usually. What year bike do you think i can get for that price, and how much do you think my monthly will be. Reason is right now im working in frazier park which is 50 miles from my house. Im figuring to be spending 400 dollars a month in gas in my truck. If i finance a bike, with liability, it will be much cheaper. What is the estimated gas mileage i will get with a bike like this. Sorry for the run on paragraph, i just though of alot of questions as i was going. Thanks for the help guys

One option is an unsecured loan for the amount of the bike...interest rate will be a bit high--probably around 10 depending on your credit. if you do that, you can carry liability only. if you get a bike loan you will more than likely be required to carry full coverage on the bike untill its paid off. you will probably not get a good financing rate thru a dealer on a used bike thats only worth 5 grand. just get the loan from the bank, and get the liability insurance.

i bought my 2002 cbr f4i with a bunch of aftermarket shit on it for 5300..i would pay cash and go with liability. thats what i did. its 375 a year for liablity thru progressive. gas mileage is unreal..maybe 150 miles to a tank?? not 100% sure tho..

$680 a year full coverage 250 deducts with nationwide. 22 yr old gixxer1. progressive wanted 5grand a year 1000 deducts. foremost was 4grand same deducts. my buddy switched 450 a year 250 deducts, 22yr old on an R6

it's worth looking into for anybody with a street bike.

Ive never had a street bike but i have heard that the gas milage can be around 60 to 65 MPG. I was considering getting one just for that reason.

I had 2 600's, the CBR got 35-45, the ZX6 got 30-40, both were from 300-400 for liability, My 996 gets 50+ and full coverage is $400/year, no accidents, no points, and 10+ years experience and no lapse in insurance coverage for 10+ years but I have had to shop around a lot. Currant insurance is through GMAC.

You can finance a new GSXR or ZX_-R through the dealer with liability only. So far I have never dropped a bike that was dammaged enough to make it worth filing a claim with insurance. They would jack up rates to get their money back so if dammage is under $2K you may as well fix it yourself. Although, if you total it, your F***ed. I don't think you can get loans through the dealer for crotch rockets and not get full coverage unless you get the ones I mentioned above, at least not CA that I have heard of.
