flanders Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 alright, before i get bashed about not looking through the previous threads, i already did. my banshee is torn apart right now, and when it is done it should have over well over 100hp. i dont know what i should do to my tranny or what tranny to put in it to handle all that. my old man has a buddy that had a 700cc banshee with a $4000 tranny in it, and i will have approx $1000 at the very most to spend on my tranny. ive heard about back cutting gears and all that, but im curious as to what i should do to make this thing hold up. ive rebuilt quite a few banshee motors, but i havent dug into the bottom end at all. so any advice would be more than helpful. NYUK Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 if you are stricktly drag racing.get a cryo treated override, and a lock up clutch. Quote
1800bigk Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 cryo is short for cryogenics. that means they put the tranny parts in extremely cold temperatures to make it stronger. the really cold temps has an effect on the steel molecules that makes them more durable. Quote
RATBIKE0130 Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 Before you cryo treat the gears magnaflux them to be sure they are free from cracks... you might have to buy a few new gears to assemble a good set. Quote
flanders Posted June 5, 2005 Author Report Posted June 5, 2005 thanks for the info. where would i go about cryo treating my gears at? and how much does that go for typically? Quote
