stealth50 Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 (edited) Whenever I am at part throttle ( anything but pinned) it loads up with fuel and won't rev until I pin it and wait for it to clean out and hit power band. When it is in powerband it runs fine at any throttle but let the revs go down and hit it, it will load up again. Mod are as follows: milled head, fatty's,foam air filter,no snorkel, holes drilled in lid,+4 timing key and lightened flywheel. Bike ran fine with 250 jets a couple of weeks ago but had a slight hesitation that got worse. I have since rejetted numerous times 240,230 with no change. The only thing that seem to make a change was putting the needle clip at the top position. I am at the end of my rope! Any suggestions will help. Edited May 30, 2005 by stealth50 Quote
SANDSTAR Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 Do a plug chop and get back to us. The main jet may not be your problem. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 If I were you, I'd drop your main jet one size and lower your needle clip down to the middle clip position and see if that helps. If it runs smoother, do a plug chop to make sure you're getting enough gas on the top end. What elevation are you at? Sounds like its lean just from the jet you're running now but if it ran good before, then it shouldn't be too lean Quote

I have jetted it all the way to 270and the bike still did the same thing. When I had the 240's in it and I took the air box lid off it would not hit powerband it just missed.put the lid back on and it would at least hit it. With the 270's it was bogging out in the higher gears in 4th & 5th but would still run the same with the airbox lid out. This thing does not give me any of the usual signs to go richer or leaner. Nothing really seems to help. What else should I check? Are the carbs just worn out? maybe reeds? poss seal problem?HELP! Quote
bigboybanshee Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 Check your compression. Your rings may be worn out...I don't think it would be your reeds or anything electrical. Quote

I think I have a different proble. poss a worn needle seat? I do not know were to check. Should I just replace the carbs? Quote

bigboybanshee Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 How clean is your air filter? Do you run an outerwear? Quote
Mr.Giggles Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 I would check to make sure you put the slides in the carbs right if you had them out(cut out of slide facing airbox)see if choke tube is in also!! I have much the same modds as you and run a 300 main needle third position and a 25 pilot. Quote

I have tried the air filter with no outerwear with no change. The choke tube is also in. Quote
Mr.Giggles Posted June 1, 2005 Report Posted June 1, 2005 (edited) There is no way that needle should be on the top position. Try it on the middle and try a 300 main, what you got to loose!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and the air screws one and a half out. Edited June 1, 2005 by Mr.Giggles Quote
